Are we out coached or out played?

Baker looked pretty slow to the ball, in the first half. Looks a little more spry in the second.

Missing Murphy and Mafe hurts. Geno missing guys. Can't/won't run the ball.

Defense just can't get any push on their OL.

I'm rambling.

Overall frustrating showing on both sides.

Both. The so called experts claim MM’s defensive system is a complex one that takes time. They’ve stabbed together a bunch of guys this year hoping they have the talent to execute it. So far it’s been underwhelming and more or less the same that we’ve seen under Pete for 7-8 years. It’s probably a personnel thing but he’s not coaching to his players abilities. How many gash running plays and blown coverages have we seen the last two weeks which is reminiscent of the last few years?
Exactly. John has to go. His drafts are terrible. Time to get someone else running the show with Mac

This is all on Grub in my opinion. He's playing right into the Giants hands. They rush the passer best on defense. And we are passing almost every play.
I STRONGLY disagree. It's that phukkng O-line, it's phukking trash beyond belief. They don't get that fixed there's gonna be a lot more ass beatings. The Giants are trash and we got our ASSES beat.

Defense couldn't get a stop. Offense couldn't string any 1st downs together. Even special teams was nothing to write home about.

Still 3-2, but another tough game on short rest Thurs nite.

One dimensional teams don’t win consistently.

Our interior of our offensive line sucks again. Year after year we the interior of the line continues to suck. We will continue to suck in this area as long as Schneider is our GM. He just undervalues the position. The last good player we had at the interior of the line was Unger and Schneider traded him away for a TE who couldn’t block

The oline is not the best. But as an Offensive coordinator you have got to know your opponent. The giants have 3 big time defensive lineman that are known for getting after the Qb. So regardless if you don't slow them down they will be all over the Qb. Not only that when calling passing plays the ball should be out quick. We had 6 sacks today. It's either Grubb looking for the big play or Geno holding the ball too long. The last couple games Geno did not hold the ball as much. But the amount of runs we called on offense tells me it's on Grubb. That's the way to slow down the passrush is by running right at them. Even if it's for 2 yards. It gets the dlineman tired and gives our oline a better chance at holding the block a split second longer. And that's all it takes. Did you see how at the end of the game when we were able to move the ball their dline didn't have as much pressure and Geno was able to have that split second to make a completion. So yes this is on Grubb for the offense at least.

I understand what your saying but 7 sacks means the O-line is trash.

Offensively:

I think Grubb gives up on the running game too easily. I think the idea that we should 'pound the rock' is pretty folly because we suck at that. We just do. But we have to keep the defense honest and give Geno that extra half second of time to make the pass play. I think Grubb sees we run the ball, it gets stopped immediately for one or two yards, and he panics to try and get us back ahead of the chains.

I get that, but sometimes you have to sacrifice a play or two to keep the other side honest later. Additionally, there are times we can pound the rock and just not worry about if it's successful. (The plays before the ill-fated field goal, attempt, for example.) Sometimes, you gotta run just to run.

Defensively:

The first three games, our pass rush was excellent, so our defense was excellent. We've been without Mafe and Murphy for two games now and our pass rush was trash and our defense was trash. This is on players, yes, because they aren't executing what has been called but it's ALSO on the coaches who aren't changing things up for the personnel we have or when what isn't working keeps not working.

If we get Murphy and Mafe back for the Niners, I will not at all be shocked to see this defense look great again... but Macdonald HAS to figure out what to do when he doesn't have those guys for a series, a half, or a game.
