Agreed. After Pete was fired, John had to scramble to reassemble the team for this year. By the time they hired McDonald, other teams were way ahead of them resulting in slim pickings and poor choices. He hired McDonald but didn't draft or sign the players that fit well with Mike's scheme.

John should have a full offseason to shape the team to meet their shared vision. It will likely take a few seasons to make that transition but, after years of whiffing on the o-line and recent questionable trades, the team needs to be significantly better next year or he should go.
Schneider signed youngest HC in January, Bobby and Brooks didn't sign with Commander and Dolphins til mid March. We also signed two Macdonald type LB Dobson and Baker in March.

The decisions on switching from Bobby and Brooks to Dobson and Baker was made after Macdonald was inhouse, and weeks to think it over.

There is certainly reasonable criticism to aim at John.

But this article sounds like it was written by a 17-year-old.

Wow, two Schneiders!!
Willie Schneider has been promoted to director of pro personnel. Umm, pro personnel, as the man behind signing of Dodson, Connor, Laken, Baker, Pharaoh Brown and others?
Yeah, not good. Pro personnel evaluation has been largely suspect.

I'm sure I could identity plenty of college prospects who would make terrible NFL guards. Can I get a job in the Seahawks player personnel department?

I once again note to everyone that 12thManWrithing no place to get good (or any) analysis of anything Seahawks. I'd sooner listen to drunk people at a random sports bar in an enemy town. 12thManWrithing is a hive of incompetent scum and villainy. Please stop making yourself look foolish by starting threads based on something you read there. In fact, please stop encouraging them with clicks.

Wonder what Hutch thinks of this bottom of the barrel offensive line. You know he has thoughts, definitely.
Well, he is the reason why we drafted Stone …..For-the-love-of-editors-BLOCK!!! Yeah, that didn’t work out well.

JS needs to prove himself. He piggybacked off of PC for 14 years. This team looks awful and he is charge.

MM shouldn’t have taken this job. We literally have nothing to work with. No QB of the future, a terrible OL, and a confused defense.

Honestly - I don't get the fact that people want to give this regime 3 years to 'gel'.

It's become quite clear that Pete was the personnel/roster guy - and that JS was a rubber stamp kinda GM.

No that is not clear. Not in the least. A lot of negativity in your thread. Not saying your wrong about everything but, sheesh.

IMHO, Pete and JS did it together for years. In the past 3-4 seasons, it was fashionable for folks on .net to place failures on Pete and harbor the thoughts that Pete was holding Schnieder back.

I believe that Pete may be the decider, but he was deciding based on scout reports from Schneider's people. If our scouts picked the wrong prospects or were off on their evaluations. Pete would be choosing based on false information.

I would also like to believe that Pete spent majority of his time, 85%+, on coaching. He could only have so much bandwidth on personnel stuff, certainly not enough time to evaluate all prospects.

I get that. We’ve also waived 2 starting Lb in weeks and traded for another one that has an expiration date of this year. Both JS and MM don’t know what they’re doing. They’re rookies trying to figure it out.

On the positive side - Young Macdonald was quick to admit making a wrong decision in acquiring Baker and Dodson and made decisive decisions.

On the negative side - Macdonald and Schneider had more than a month to decide their roster, before letting Bobby and Brooks go and replacing them with Baker and Dodson, who was with the Bills coached by Leslie. The release of Dodson could also be read as a warning to the locker room. But why the need for a warning to the locker room?

Yea I'm pretty negative but FFS:

Yuck:

Things aren't right. And, there doesn't seem to be much hope for a turnaround - at least anytime soon. I'm going to go pull pre-winter weeds in the garden and keep loose tabs on the score today. I can't really stomach staring at another another 3 hour long ass-whooping. We need more than word salad pressers.

Hope we win. Hope we turn this thing around. Hope springs eternal :)

My winter hit me today. I am kinda glad I worked a bit yesterday on Getting back Water (new pump installed) and cleaning up some of the summer around here before the 1-2 inches of snow. Still have some stuff to do but it is getting better.
