That the whole culture and attitude of the team has seemed to progressed leaps and bounds since Russ left? All of a sudden old players like Sherm are wanting to be involved again, renewed faith in Pete, guys seeming to have a great attitude...

I feel like this move has given Pete's career a much needed reset. He's free from being forced to run a team around Mr incredible. I know there are a lot of Pete haters but I really think that when it's all said and done there's a chance Pete looks better than Russ post divorce.

Anyone else feeling this about the clubs culture?

Yup.

Russ, and Pete's handling of him impacted the culture of this team and the competitive spirit it once had in a pretty significant way. You can't preach holding eachither accountable and sometimes leaning on tough love, when the guy who should be the symbol of accountability has a bubble around him and his poor play in games isn't criticized and poor performance in practice can't be pointed out by his teammates. It just doesn't work.

I agree, Pete has been soulless every since he sold his to Russ. His philosophy of "always compete" was out of the window when Russ won't let the team draft a decent QB to develop a la JimmyG. Wilson had his personal office in the building, his entourage of 7-8 were always in the building and given priorities.

Would you as a star or ex star of Hawks want to be part of that?

This is one of the reasons why I have been advocating to trade Russ in 2020, not that he couldn't contribute when he played, but his negative impact is such that he single handedly pulled the team down.

Would we be more limited without Mr. Unlimited? We shall see, but I am enjoy the rays of sunshine.

Love the guy. Don't know yet how electric he'll be as a player, but he seems like a hard working, straight up genuine, no bs dude - something that I'm sure will endear him to his teammates.

And love this interview.

Wonder who he was talking about with the phony comment... hmm.

Lock has that blue collar working dude look to him, almost 'looked' like a game manager :) OK this is total BS from me, but his persona is a welcome change from what we were used to.

It's amazing what changing the focus of the energy from 'my legacy... i'm an MVP' to, ' we have each other's back' can do.
At this point of team building, a continued early season success is of paramount importance. If they could somehow get going early. This team will truly surprise the national media. Somehow I think John and Pete will sacrifice an inch just for that lol.

How do they start fast? The schedule, to start.

Broncos - Monday night, Post Game... ' so Drew, what's best about beating you former team the way you guys did?... Drew - "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women."

49ers - Whatever the question is, Tre Lance is not the answer.

Falcons - Marcus Mariotta. Nuff said

Lions - it's the Lions

Saints - we had them beat last year with an off the pine, Geno and a lame kicker.

Cardinals - no DHop. No Hollywood. No Problem.

Worst case, 5 and 1. Good chance... 6-0

With a 5-1 start, even a 4-2 start, some folks are going to call Pete Carroll the QB whisperer. Now that would be something.

I see 2 wins maybe. Russ is going to MOP the field with Seattle.

I think we need to stop assuming player A is referring to player B when guys make comments. He could be referring to literally ANYONE, or even just a type rather than a specific person.

He certainly could be talking about just anyone...

Also not poking the hive to imagine that in an interview where he's trying to establish who he is, that he might be doing that in context and contrast to who his predecessor was.

Also not a reach to think that the team comradary that's now evident post Russ, influenced the response. By all accounts, his teammates enjoy him.

Or that the constant peppering of his former Broncos teammates (with whom he still corresponds) about Russ's A-List persona and how it's playing in the locker room, might also be getting back to him.

It would be entirely expected, given all the criticism the guy has received before even taking a snap ( being called horrible and his team, one of the worst in the league because they lost his predecessor and got him), that he take the opportunity to highlight a positive difference between he and the guy he's replacing... without actually making it a dig.

Or like you said. He could be talking about anybody.
