There is only one way this team will suck this year, and unfortunately, it will most likely happen.
The ego clash that is coming will be exacerbated by Derick Hall's contract, with other players resenting him for putting an expectation of them of a team friendly deal when their contract time is up. Earnest Jones in particular has been known to leave dead animals in his teammates lockers if they don't push the position further regarding pay. Just last year he left a decapitated goat's head in Boye Mafe's hotel bed. He was so afraid to not get the most money available that he moved to Cincinnati.
Mike Macdonald has been known to play favorites and cut bait with jobbers and practice squad guys for a single mistake. It's only a matter of time before the walk-ons mutiny and and tie him up during practice. This will divide the team further, with guys like Darnold and JSN defending the scrubs because they are cash safe with huge deals, and on the other side, guys like Olu and Thomas will argue that they have the same chance as everyone, just play harder.
It's also well known within the team that Drew Lock doesn't actually want to play, and Darnold is pissed because he wants someone to push him from behind. He already infected Milroe with this attitude as well, and whenever Sam tries to change their minds, Jalen just says he's "getting a ring a year off his Irish fishing boat captain looking ass." By about week 14 Darnold was telling them that he prays to get injured but not too badly so those two can get their fire back.
Grey Zabel makes enemies every single week in the locker room because he flips someone's car over like the linemen in The Replacements. He fights about it weekly because "it's the only movie he's ever seen" and won't back down from defending his behavior.
They are a dumpster fire, and honestly, the championship probably was a mistake and will tear apart what should have been a great story. They should have lost so they could grow as a team, plus they'd have a good LOB connection with the Patriots thing. If they'd waited another year or two to really figure out their identity, it could have been a great run for two, maybe three years instead of one.
