The trade request didn't change anything when he made it on March 2. The trade request didn't change anything when the Ravens tagged him on March 7. The trade request didn't change anything when he made the request public on March 27. The siuation is the situation. The Ravens have tagged him at $32.416M for 2023 and will likely tag him at $38.899M in 2024. Jackson can either renegotiate with the Ravens, sign an offer sheet with another team willing to give up 2 X 1sts, or wait for a very long time.

I think there are multiple factors affecting Lamar, some of which have nothing to do with him specifically.

- The owners in general are unhappy with Cleveland for giving Watson a fully guaranteed contract. No one wants to be the next owner to do it.
- The initial returns for Watson and Russell (probably the next highest in guarantees) have been very subpar. They kind of expected it in Cleveland with the suspension but I think Russ' contract and results have made owners really leery of locking themselves to a single player.
- The percentage of cap going to QBs is expanding faster than the cap, and it really limits the ability to build the rest of the team.
- Russ and Geno. Overpay for Russ and fail. Pay a Geno, a journeyman, and win. Not every backup is Geno, clearly, but you know teams are looking around and wondering which of the long term backups might have put some pieces together and could be a viable starter for a LOT less $$$. I really hope that Geno's case influences teams to start emphasizing QB development again instead of just pushing for a high draft spot (through failure or trade) for the next "sure thing" QB. QB is probably the single most complex position in sports. It's crazy to expect very many 21 year olds to be all that good at it.

Regarding Lamar himself:
- He's missed the final quarter of the year the past two years. "The best ability is availability" and Lamar lacks it.
- There's some suspicion that he could have played in the most recent playoffs but chose to extend his rehab because of the lack of contract. Obviously I don't know if that's true or not, and I can understand not wanting to risk his health right before a potential huge payday.....but if true it does show a me-first attitude. If you're paying a dude 200 million+, you'd like to think you can count on some loyalty.
- I kind of wonder if teams are getting a little fed up with the divas in general. Rodgers is a headache for the Packers every stinkin' year. Russ was a headache for us, and is now a headache for the Broncos. Obviously talent is gonna get paid regardless, but I truly think a lot of teams are looking at Lamar and thinking he could someone else's problem as much as he could be (is) a star.

What’s the legal standing if he refuses to sign the Non-Exclusive tag? If the price is suddenly down from two firsts to whatever-they-can-get-for-him, a Kirk Cousins/Deshaun Watson contract (or something approaching one of those) suddenly seems a bit more palatable for an enquiring team, no?
If Lamar doesn’t sign the tag by week 10 he doesn’t get paid for the season a la Le’veon Bell. If he signs after the season starts and before week ten the salary will be pro rated for any games missed. If he skips this year he becomes a RFA in 2024 and this can happen again with a franchise tag can be applied again. The problem for the Ravens is the entire amount against the 2023 salary cap (32 million)

In addition to being a Seahawks fan I also follow the Ravens. There has been a lot of drama between Lamar and the Ravens dividing the fan base. The loyal Lamar fans who say pay him he won an MVP are even starting to get tired of him he keeps putting his foot in his mouth. The Ravens have given Lamar a fair offer he refuses to sign.

IMO Lamar is hooked up on guaranteed money out of pride the NFLPA is supposedly providing assistance Lamar needs an agent if for no other reason guidance. His means of communication been through emojis and cryptic tweets. Something I have brought up is when Josh Allen got his deal in 2021 if I was Lamar I would have gotten an agent and asked for a similar deal which Lamar would have received.

Lamar is very stubborn and strong willed I don’t see him giving in, if Lamar sat out 2023 it wouldn’t surprise me

True. But doesn't that really represent a 1-year problem for the Ravens? If he doesn't sign this year, he could be tagged for 2024 at a projected cost of 38 million against the cap, but the 32 million that wasn't paid out in 2023 would be freed up to apply against that.

If my thinking is correct, and he elects not to play this year, it would only cost a net of 6 million against the 2024 cap to tag him again. Obviously, all of that money gets freed up if he never plays for them again.

The team gets paid whether LAlexander plays or not. LAlexander gets paid only if he plays. The current general feeling is leaning toward blaming LAlexander. As a result, there's really no motivation for the Raven's Front Office to do anything besides cast a wide net for serviceable QBs and send out Season Ticket invoices. The team holds all the cards as long as the fanbase doesn't stop buying tickets. Ravens have the potential to come out smelling like a rose if they find and showcase a new young QB while LAlexander sits out. If Harbaugh can win with someone else, LAlexander will have to sign for cheaper and the Ravens end up with trade bait. It'll either be RCW or JimmyG all over again: trade your starter or your backup for a boatload. They're a well run organization and they'll use this to get better even if the '23 season doesn't show it in Ws.

Yeah, the worst case scenario for the Ravens is that Lamar signs the franchise offer and then "reaggravates" his injury from last year, and gets paid on the bench. Lamar can't overplay that TOO much or it impacts his value. but if the ravens get sign/draft a QB that enables them to win games then Lamar's value (to them) drops.

I assuming that if Lamar doesn’t sign the tender by week 10 the $32 million comes off of the salary cap like it didn’t happen. If it comes to that I wonder if the Ravens will bother tagging him or not in 2024. Lamars value is low right now due to his attitude and thinking he should be paid as the best QB. Using the previous player to sit out a season due to a contract issue as a guide ( Le’veon Bell) the interest will be low. IMO Lamar has too many yes men in his corner not giving him good advice. He could be the biggest fall from glory story

nfln just aired pc at the annual meeting saying the Hawks have no interst.
I would be shocked if any team would have interest, IMO his maturity level is that have a 15 yr old. If you are paying a player that amount of money it is expected that he is a leader and the face of your franchise as an owner I would expect good communication skills.

There are many teams that are interested but they wouldn't want to give up their 1st 2 picks. But lets say for example the Raiders use their 1st round pick in 2023. Then they can offer Lamar a contract for their 2024 and 2025 1st round picks.

Presently there is 0 interest not even a whisper it’s not working out for Lamar and he keeps putting his foot in his mouth more every day. There is also word among the other teams that Lamar quit on his team it doesn’t matter if he really did or not it’s the perception

Florio did a video today about what I have been thinking for the past week about the possibility of Lamar not playing in 2023

The two firsts aren't much for a superstar. Denver gave us much more plus paid Me3. I think he's kind of a bargain for only two firsts. Wait until after the draft when it's the next two year's draft picks which should be lower. He'll go to Indy.
