My vote for backup Read Option QB Jordan Rodgers

Jordan Rodgers. Very athletic, has played read-option, has escapability and can throw the ball accurately under pressure. He had a pretty good receiver in Mathews and running back in Zac Stacy a participant in the East-West Shrine game.

He only had 2 years at Vandy but his accuracy improved from 50.0% in 2011 to 59.9% in 2012 throwing 15TDs to 5INTs.

I originally like Colby Cameron after watching him in the Shrine game and reading that he set the NCAA record for passes without an INT, but I think Jordan Rodgers is a much better prospect with athleticism reminiscent of this brother Aaron.

Jordan Rodgers wasn't invited to the combine.

You know what's really sad? The shortest QBs that participated in the combine at QB was Tyler Wilson and Matt Scott. Both are 6'2 1/8". No 5'11" guys. No 6'0" guys. No 6'1" guys. Not even any guys that are 6'2" rounded up. Nothing. Jordan Rodgers is a draftable prospect and his brother is a megastar QB. But he's 6'1", unfortunately for him. Wilson and Scott should be eternally grateful that they didn't measure a quarter inch shorter.

It shows that GMs STILL don't get it with regards to height. They say they are looking for the next Russell Wilson, but they really aren't. Thankfully, Johnny Manziel will have his chance to break the mold in the next year or two.

He'd be my pick because of the year over year Vandy improvement, the mobility and because our wealth of 7th round picks, where he's expected to go. If EJ Manuel slipped to our 3rd round pick, highly unlikely, then I'd go his way.

More from my guy Jordan Rodgers. I was looking at tape from Jaye Howard trying to evaluate how he might do this year and this is against Vanderbilt. Jordan just amazes me with the way he is getting swarmed by Jaye Howard, Sharif Floyd, et al and he keeps his cool and makes plays. I love this kid for Russell's back up!

Back to Jaye Howard, he has the athleticism to be a pretty good DT, but there are questions about his work ethic and drive with rumors of him taking plays off during the game. But there are times when he blows through the offensive line before anyone has a chance to react, and does his damage in the backfield. Consider his senior year, 65 tackles, 10 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 2 PD and 2 fumbles recoverd, 1 for a TD. All while competing with Sharif on the other side who is no slouch himself. Just for reference, Floyd's 2011 season consisted of 46 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 PD and 1 kick blocked.

I did notice and anyone can correct me if Im wrong but it seemed like he was just a second later getting off the snap which would somewhat explain the rumors of his drive?

I don't think it's a height thing as much as it is that there aren't any great short QB prospects in this draft. Rodgers is probably the best one, but even with him, we're talking about a guy who averaged just 212 yards per game last season. I agree that there's enough there that he probably should have been invited to the combine, but I don't think it's a travesty that he wasn't. After him, I don't know who else you could make an argument for. Maybe Seth Doege, but the offense he played in is an even bigger stigma than his height. I don't think Matt McGloin or BJ Daniels are the caliber of QB who usually get combine invites.

I don't think there is any reason to think that a backup in Seattle, especially the number 2, will be a run option guy. Think about it, if Wilson is hurt, do you want your backup running the ball?

If the backup is in for any extended period of time then I do not know that it matters of the backup QB is running or not. What I like about the structure of this team is that they are more than capable of accommodating a non-read option QB and just play ball-control offense. They managed when TJack was still here and before Wilson came into his own.
