  • Heh. No way they have that huge a letdown as a defending champ. That division isn't nearly what it used to be.

  • I can't believe the Favens were picked apart like that during FA on both sides if the ball so far. I'm not complaining as we helped by stealing Boldin for only a 6th, but I believe that the Steelers will rebound this year and that for the second year in a row the defending SB champs might miss the playoffs all together.

Are you kidding? Cleveland and Cincy are both on the upswing and better than they have been in years. Coupled with the retirement of Birk and Lewis the loss of McKinnie Reed the other middle linebacker and Kruger and starting strong safety Pollard.

They have lost half their starters.

    They're doomed.

Cincy will win the division. That will be my largest non-Seahawks related futures bet of the offseason.

    It's a division, technically.

Unless you mean the conference will see four 8-8 teams win their divisions, which would be hilarious.

Yea, division. It's early, and I haven't finished my coffee. At least that's the story I'm sticking to. Also just saw this flash by on Twitter:

  • The only major losses they've had are Ellerbee and Boldin imo. Ray Lewis & Ed Reed are both legends but were liabilities for the most part on a 26th ranked defense, and Kruger is not worth what the Browns signed him to

Allow me to reiterate my conviction that the Baltimore Ravens WILL NOT win 6 games this coming year.

But they've got Joe Flacco, the highest paid player in football! Joey Flaxseed Oil! He's a winner! Dude just knows how to win! How will the Ravens lose so much if Joe Flacco only knows how to win?!

Bengals take the division, Browns come in a surprising 2nd. The Stealers and Ravens rot in hell AKA the basement of the AFC North. I actually like that a lot. I can't stand the hype the Ravens/Steelers rivalry gets. Hopefully both teams tank it this season, but I still see Baltimore winning 8 games.

Sometimes in very rare cases a players presence on the field is worth more than his skill set at the time.

Ray Lewis was one of those players. It wasn't an accident their season completely transformed when he came back.

And Kruger may not have been worth what Cleveland paid, however he is a HUGE loss. I got to agree 6-10 is probably what they are looking at.

  • I'm not sold on it. I think Johnbaugh is worth more wins than that with half of a roster. I remember folks claiming that the Hawks wouldn't win more than 4 games in 2010 and that SF or AZ would win the division.

I am going to give them 8-8, but still pick Cincy to win the division. They still have Flacco, Rice, Torrey, Jones and fair OLine don't they?

Their defense was decimated, but I think they will be better than 6 wins. I actually think the Steelers are going to be flat and that Cleveland will be a tough 7-9 team.

He must not read pehawk's posts very often.

And I can see this going either way, but they still have Ray Rice and Torrey Smith on offense. They should at least be respectable there, and that'll win a couple games.

Yeah, I think so, too. He's lost some decent players who'd have been nice to re-sign like Cary Williams and Ellerbee, but they've also let other teams overpay guys like Paul Kruger and let guys like Ed Reed walk for the kind of money they want. This team drafts exceptionally well, makes prudent moves, and even though I'm not sure I like the amount he's getting paid, brought in Dumervil as a solid improvement over Kruger for less than Paul got in FA. The Ravens are just dealing with what we'll inevitably have to deal with if we're going to be any good, paying big money to their homegrown guys who have earned it, being forced to let guys you'd love to keep for the right price walk when they command the wrong one, and making smart value moves + continuing to draft well to stay relevant and stocked.

  • Okay. they got Dumerville. Hip hip hooray. I will confess to low-balling them with 5 wins and am willing to concede they MAY get to six.

    But that is all.

They will NOT win the division an they will NOT make the playoffs.

    Six wins MAXIMUM.

Cincy or Cleveland take the division and I will be wagering it is Cincy (who has three draft picks in the first two rounds).

Care to make some kind of phony internet tough-guy wager, Leif?

Absolutely, what do you have in mind?

I'll admit, I wasn't prepared for you to accept. Nothing monetary, as I think that's against forum rules. Ok, how about this, if I win, you're no longer allowed to make your unfunny schtick-type posts in response to people EXCEPT for Mystery Matt, who you will disparage at every turn. this includes no more allusions to Largent80's 16-1 bet, or any other of your thinly-veiled snarky comments or remarks. You can only reply with serious statements, questions or observations, until the beginning of the 2014 season. You can, however, troll Mystery Matt until your heart's content.

You can come up with my forfeit should I lose the wager. naturally, we'll both have to agree to these respective forfeits. Perhaps the mods could help us enforce? I dunno.

  • Unlike any of you, I dont care who wins the bet, I JUST want the terms met.

And, keep Matt out of this, honestly. And he'll do the same. You guys all used to be friends, and I remember when you we're Matt's daughter, peaches, so I know you love him. Problem is you've forgotten how to love, peaches. It's sad, really. Peaches is running around here seeking the .net equivalent of a hair tussle (don’t do it peaches, just don’t!).

The part about Matt is stupid and invalidates everything else you wrote. I don't think the mods want involvement in this either. Try again, if you like.
