So, which players are you rooting for at #56?

Surprised more people don't talk about Margus Hunt.. I feel like he's a high energy guy that can get to QB's. Wouldn't be upset at all with him as our pick.

Honestly, I think whoever first said Hunt was "Jordan Kent the DE" pretty much nailed it. Super high potential, but he's not a football player. Very high likelihood to bust.

High energy and Hunt don't belong in the same sentence.

"Dazed and confused" maybe, but not high energy.

If they can re-sign Branch I'm thinking they will probably go for a LB to replace Hill, if not then they will probably look at DT. People seem dead set on Hill leaving, even though don't forget PC/JS have no problems taking a chance on players with character issues. And with Hill having just got a DUI they could probably steal him on the cheap, even for the simple matter of depth. But ideally I think Khaseem Greene is a great choice at LB and if Jessie Williams is still around I like him at DT.

Tyrann Mathieu is really growing on me. We have addressed our pass rushing needs on the DL, we have added a dynamic playmaker on offense. Pre-FA most would agree, Pass rush DT, DE, WLB, WR, #2 TE, and nickle CB are or biggest weaknesses.

I see WLB, #2 TE, and nickle CB as our priorities going into the draft. We have heard numerous times how PC&JS "unique players", players that love the game and love to compete, players that have that knack for making big plays. PC hates to turn the ball over and will do just about anything to produce more turnovers on defense and has built our roster to accommodate that desire.

So a guy who have been extremely devalued but bring his A game when he's on the field in Mathieu. He could be a very special player and one that immediately makes an impact. He'd be an excellent nickle CB and has a knack for making interceptions, returning kicks for TD's, causing fumbles, and just straight up hitting hard. He is the DB version of Percy Harvin, or possibly the CB version of Bob Sanders or Earl Thomas.

So as of today Mathieu is a player that will very likely be there at #56, would surprise many people when taken, would surprise many people with production, and is a player that has had to battle adversity and probably has a chip on his shoulder.

His hard hits would fit our defense well

He'd be a great fit for the LoB, I think they would let him in the group and keep him out of trouble.

Terron Armstead. Can play RT or guard and is PC athletic.

You know what? Totally against the grain, but I want Marcus Lattimore at #56. Yeah, I know, a reach at #56, right? We don't have a NEED at RB, right?

A healthy Lattimore has more upside than anyone available at this spot. Yes, I understand that the key word is healthy. Injured? So what? Let him sit for the majority (if not all) of 2013. Use the time to rehab and learn the playbook. Get him on the field in 2014 and let him work his magic.

I know that Lynch is money. I know that Turbin may be next in line for the job. However, I don't want to risk taking these guys for granted. Lynch has so many miles beyond his years, who knows how much more he has left to give on a full-time basis? Who knows whether Turbin has what it takes to contribute in an expanded role? Let's not forget how many of us clamored for the coaches to let Forsett to claim his "rightful spot" as starting RB just a few years back.

I'd rather be the team that swung and missed on a longshot than the team lamenting getting cute and letting him slip away when interviewed in the HOF documentary.

I'm going to go WR, i think this is the last year for Sydney. I'd love to see the Hawks draft a outside WR, let him get learn under Sydney this year and then taking over that starting role next year. With that said i'll take Hopkins, Hunter, Williams, Woods, etc. at 56.

This is a definite possibility if Rice has a sub par season. It could help free money for future free agent issues.

Bennie Logan. I was rooting for him at 25, but I hope he falls to 56, that'd be phenomenal.

Just like a Game 7 in playoff basketball, BIG GAME football is all about matchups and game changing plays. No second chances. Winner take all. Tyrann Mathieu is my selection at #56, & without a doubt in the 3rd round. He is a dynamic playmaker, game changer, difference maker, and turnover creator. And here are my reasons...

We need quality over quantity these days in Superbowl favorite land people. We have 10 picks and there aren't 10 open roster slots in the final 53. We all love the fact that we are closer than we have ever been to winning it all... so, lets get real. Its football. One year ago, this guy is a top quality, ultra talented, 'Ball So Hard' top ten pick!!! Mark my words, a month from now... it would be a Russell Wilson style draft coup to get this guy at 56, let alone 87.

Forget 2nd round DTs & LBs, we can get those in the later rounds. What we need desperately is a better nickel CB to help us get off the field on 3rd downs, thus, I bring Mathieu into the fold as the missing "Fifth element" of the Legion of Boom.

Get him out of friggin' LSUisiana, let bygones be bygones, and let him feel a whole "new family" feeling of the Team, the 12th Man, and a sold out Century Link rockin' a high like no other! Besides, all it would take for Tyrann is creating a bigtime turnover vs. the Whiners, or returning a punt for a TD at the C-Link, and he'd be 'hooked' on a whole new healthy lifestyle.

Did Bruce Irvin have ATL regional history, major baggage, and was he a "risky pick"? YES.
Did he get into trouble and revert to his old ways? A RESOUNDING NO.

Before we went JS/PC crazy in freeagency, and got real playmaker/game changer in Percy Harvin for the slot, and 2 of the best 3 available passrushing DEs, I would have considered DE in Rd. 1, and Zach Ertz and/or Ryan Swope at #56 as similar 12th man fan favorites who would make a difference as offensive 3rd down specialists. The goal being in my mind to try and gain more first downs and keep opposing high powered offenses off the field. After all, it wasn't so long ago we were scoring approximately 20 points a game y'know... and we can't always play from 2 or 3 TDs behind and expect road playoff miracles. Sure, if we score 50 every week? No problem...

BUT... our biggest obstacles to Superbowl Immmortality are the Falcons, the 49ers, and Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. To win those BIGTIME games we need to win the turnover battle, get off the field on third downs, and get the ball back into the potent hands of Russell Wilson and Company. Sure, now, we can score... but to win the Lombardi Trophy we need to prevent the 49ers, Falcons, and Broncos from scoring more.

I think we pick no one and trade our 2nd this year for a third this year and a third next year.

If we stay in the 2nd though I think we make a very unsexy pick and take Menelik Watson as Giacomini's replacement or to play guard. This is also assuming we resign Branch.

We still have a month to go, and I want to see how the rest of F.A. goes and whom John takes care of that were on the team last year. At that point I am simply going to take B.P.A / Need.
