If it was racist I apologize, however I was under the impression this was the same as the Shack where it was basically everything goes asides from directly threatening another member. Just steamed that we've had a policy of appeasement with regard to North Korea because of China.

How many times have any of the latter countries threatened pre-emptive nuclear strike on the US, kicked out weapons inspectors, and continued to go forward with their nuclear program?

And yes, I'm sure we'd blow them off the planet if they tried anything...but the risk is real and do we really want to find out first hand if their capability to hit us is there? For years we spent so much of our resources on Iraq and Afghanistan, and ignored this larger problem...

At the very least, the risk for another Korean war would be a disaster for all involved.

Shack rules or not, Im pretty sure decent humans try to avoid racism.

So, spell it out..what do you think ought to be done? Another pre emptive war?

First, disable their radar and air strike capabilities.

Then, joint mission between US and South Korea elite forces...select all the major players in the North Korean government and take them out, mass forces along the DMZ to make sure they do not invade South Korea successfully.

Its not their air strikes you have to worry about. Their air force is nearly non existent.

What do you tell the people of Seoul, who live within artillery range of N. Korean artillery , which DOES exist. The artillery could probably be taken out within hours..but thats HOURS you subject Seoul to artillery attack.

And good luck with just simply "taking out" the major players of the N. Korean government with SEAL raids... They arent bin Ladin hiding in a house..

Its disturbing how many Americans are now in favor of torture, pre emptive war.. etc.

Watched those 3 Vice vids last night - I find N. Korea(r) fascinating and very creepy. I feel bad for the people unlucky enough to live there. I think most are afraid to speak their minds for fear of a gulag. And usually all you see in any N Korean documentary is Pyongyang, which just in order to live in the city you have to be a party member.

As for any war with N. Korea... what Vetamur said. N Korea's artillery is already zero'd in on Seoul. I fear more for what N. Korea could do to the South then for any attack directly against the US. I have no doubt that if it really came to war, we'd mop the floor with them, but at what cost? Would N Korea nuke the south like it threatens? That's a lot of fallout (pun intended).

I think the only way to eliminate N. Korea is for it to collapse on itself - finally get their own people to take down their gov't. But that would require a lot of backing from China, I think. On the same token, you have to wonder that if the regime began to collapse (even if by it's own people), would they lash out anyway? The DPRK is an enigma wrapped in a riddle.

They got pissed off because UN said they got small dicks, Err..... I meant more sanctions.

They're all talk. I don't see a nuke thing happening.. At least not to the mainland US. I do think they will do something stupid in the next few days though, a la torpedo a ship or shell an island. Just to show that they're tough or whatever.

the "Cease fire" has officially ended. I do think they will assault someone with a nuke for sure but it will be quikly shot down by a patriot missile. I hope they do shoot it because as soon as they shoot it China should give us the "ok go" to send drones to N. Korea.

North Korea doesn't have rockets that can reach the US, nor can it put a nuclear warhead on a rocket.
It's just babble coming from a kid trying to prove he's tough because he's 30 years old, has no qualifications, but is tasked with making his country semi-livable with an extremely skeptical army watching over his shoulder.

This is all true, but a kid trying to prove he's tough can still shit in the pool and ruin it for all the rest of us.

In my opinion, the best thing we could do to pull North Korea from the Dark Ages is to figure out how to hack their Internet and television and get free open access to both for the entire population of the country. This sort of thing should have happened 30 years ago, though. They're mostly too brainwashed to really rebel at this point.

I think the North will do something stupid like they did when they shelled that island awhile back. I think they'll see how far they can push it. The question is, if that happens, is how will the South respond? Last time SK restrained themselves, but I think they'd hit them back this time. And then there's a chance we're looking at a war. So then it goes back to China. If China decides not to back the DPRK, or just stays out of it, then the DPRK is done. Just a matter of how much damage they cause on the way out... Which could be ugly.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during those US/China talks a couple of days ago.
