Just saw this and thought it was crazy. Flacco is worth good money, but the most money in NFL history? that's crazy. Flacco is good but he isn't THAT good.

NFL.com's Albert Breer reported that Joe Flacco's deal is for six years and would make him the highest paid player in the NFL -- making it worth more than $120 million.

Jesus, imagine what we're gonna have to pay Wilson after he wins the next two SB's...

What the heck are the Ravens thinking? Flacco is not worth that.

looks like he's never winning another super bowl. WIth Ray Lewis retiring and now that the Ravens have significantly less cap room. Flaccos going to find out just like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers that getting paid more leaves the front office less money to sign other big team needs.

Someone calculate on average how much more money Flacco is making than Wilson per year

That's what happens when you take a team to a Super Bowl title in your contract year. The stars aligned for young Mr. Flacco. Factor in the dearth of quality quarterbacks available this offseason and it's understandable that Baltimore would panic and pay the man whatever it took to keep him there.

And in this particular case, the Ravens probably still have nightmares about what happened to their quarterback situation the last time they let their Super Bowl-winning QB become a free agent.

Flacco's underrated. He deserves this and then some. Dude just wins, anywhere, any month. He's like Eli, but with an arm and throws spirals.

Flacco is getting $20,100,000 per year on average.
Wilson is getting $549,500 per year on average.
So Flacco is making $19,550,500 more than Russell annually or roughly 36.5x the amount.

What were the Ravens supposed to do, let him walk and start over? They got stuck and had to pay him.

Don't fret. That record will only last for, oh, say, 3 years.

They really were hosed. I think looking back with hindsight 5 years from now, we may well see letting him walk as the thing they should have done, but there is no way they could have done it. Absolutely none.

If in fact it hamstrings the Ravens, will that be a good thing?

Flacco is clearly not the top QB in the NFL, but what choice did they have?

I don't think it'll hamstring them. The Ravens are a smart team, and smart teams always find ways to manipulate the cap.

We sound like fans of other teams discussing Wilson, when discussing Flacco. I dont think we get it.

This is getting out of hand. Every franchise QB (self proclaimed or proven) wants to be the highest paid player in the league, and teams keep bending over. Eventually teams are going to start saying 'no' when one player equates to 30+ percent of their total cap. It's not advantageous at that point to keep that one player.

They may have been between a rock and a hard place, but i think this will prove to be a terrible deal.

What could they do? Flacco just killed it in the Super Bowl. Just unlucky timing for them.

He could very well be worth $20 million to that team, its just hard to wrap your head around him being the highest paid player ever.

Best player in the league?

I would of franchised him for 16 million, prove that you're elite with a bulls eye on your back.
