I was really high on Cornelius Washington based off his combine numbers but after watching that tape, I am not sure about drafting this guy anymore. He plays like he has no passion for the game and looks lazy out there. He might be an opposite of John Simon. He's got all the tools n the speed but none of that translates to the football field. Very small sample though. If PC & JS take a chance on this guy then I would be okay with it I guess. I have faith in our front office.

I like the Jones pick. I don't like not taking a WR until the 4th round. Do you have any thoughts on LB Jamie Collins as a Leo? Good read as always!

For what it's worth, Rob Rang also has us selecting Datone Jones at #25 in his latest mock.

I wouldn't be surprised by that pick, although I must admit I wouldn't be surprised with any pick anymore. :?

I still would really love to spend some draft capital on offensive skill players one of these years. It would be hard for me to pass up Tavon Austin at #25. If not him, I'd go for for Stedman Bailey or DeAndre Hopkins in the 2nd, although I think Hopkins will be gone before then. I also wouldn't mind moving up a little in the 2nd to get Hopkins or even Tyler Eifert if he is still on the board, which I doubt.

Not real high on Simon in the 2nd round. Part of the reason is I need to see what we do in free agency first. Ideally, if we address our DL needs in free agency we can shift our focus.

I think jones is a guy that can put on some weight and play the 3 tech.

The fact that Jones has been the only DT linked to Seattle during the combine makes me think he's the only one not on their draft board. Also, Rob Rang keeps mocking him to us. No further proof is needed- Datone Jones will never be a Seahawk.

At least I hope so. If Seattle took Jones at all, I'd find it upsetting. Clinton McDonald is a better pass rusher than this guy. If they took him at #25, I'd consider it the biggest mistake they've made so far in Seattle- bigger than Whitehurst.

I dont know much about Jones but from what i have heard and seen he kind of reminds me of Lawrence Jackson 2.0.

I think Lo-Jack is a compliment. Lo-Jack at least had a high motor and would chase plays down. Jones is similarly sized and similarly raw, but often just stands there watching a play and often jogs in pursuit. He has good athleticism- I'd say 2nd round level, but everything else about him screams "stay away." Granted, there are even worse DTs Seattle could pick (Johnathan Hankins, maybe Benny Logan) but I think it would be an awful selection, even with a later pick.

Rob,

You list Seattle having two 4ths. Did the terms of that Oakland trade change? They should have two 5ths, not two 4ths.

Jones doesn't fit Seattle at all. Just looking at measurables, Seattle likes their DT's long with great wingspan. Jones has short arms (so does Floyd). Seattle likes their DT's explosive, and Jones vertical was pedestrian.

That's what the numbers show, and the tape confirms it. He's slow off the line, and doesn't disengage well at all.

Alan Branch has 34.25" arms as well. And Greg Scruggs... 36". Might be something to that.

I wouldn't touch Jones with the following players on the board: Hopkins, Kahseem Greene, Kawann Short, Jarvis Jones, Tyler Eifert--pretty much in that order.

Maybe Rob has been enlisted by Seattle to help spread the rumors about Datone Jones. He's really better than Sheldon Richardson, youknowhatImsayin?

So, is Margus Hunt officially rated as a 3rd rounder? If there is one shocking pick I could see Seattle making then it would be Margus Hunt at #25 or Seattle trades down a bit to the top of round two and selects Hunt. He is raw, and is lacking production but the length, speed, and untapped potential is there. I feel like his best football is yet to be played and I may not make that pick in the first personally but he seems a lot like a Seahawk pick, especially taking into account what John said a while back about looking at what a player can do and how he fits and if he just needed a bit of coaching to reach his potential. I think he could be brought along slowly as a 3rd and long rush specialist with Branch ahead of him and since a lot of LEO's are in this draft and Irvin is still thought of to take over for Clemons, that other 3rd down LEO pick can wait a bit.

We would have Bruce, Mebane, Branch, Bryant as the starting 4 at the beginning of the season with Irvin, McDonald, Hunt/Scruggs/Howard, Jason Jones/Scruggs/ another rookie LEO pick as the rushing line in addition to a new WIL like Sio Moore, Zaviar Gooden, Jelani Jenkins, or start and rotate someone with Smith.
