agreed.. but i was stating this whole incident was senseless.. not just the end... killing an innocent engaged couple, just because her father supposedly slighted him earlier... the whole story is tragic and senseless.. unfortunately this happens to often in today's world..
on another note, according to youtube video, cops purposely set the cabin on fire.. officer in charge at the scene on record stating.. let it burn? how do you feel about the cops using this tactic?
When I read the cabin was on fire, my immediate thought was that police set the fire. Shortly after a shot was heard. He shot himself instead of burning alive.

Maybe another cop will be fired for trying to air the truth about this and hold a grudge. Then the ugly circle of violent revenge can continue.
LAPD comes out looking very bad from this story.

I'm not suggesting there aren't bad cops. I just don't think it's a majority.

Oh I agree with you there, it is not a majority. I have never been in trouble with the law but I have been in numerous verbal altercations with officers who thought they could walk over my civil rights with illegal stops or searches.
I would say the majority of cops are good people, but there are a good number of them that get off on wielding their batons.

I bet you have incredibly limited experience with cops. As one whose been around more than I probably should have, I'd say about a third suck right out of the academy. Not that they are corrupt, but at very least incompetent bullies on a power trip. Another third are OK, can go either way, and the last third are outstanding individuals doing the best they can.
Unfortunately get a few years behind them, show them a lot of the fucked up shit that goes on in the world and even the outstanding ones can go bad. I'd say by the time they leave the force, probably at least half are fucked in some way or another, if not actually corrupt. It's a lot like psychology; a person can only take so much, then the job takes it's toll.
It's a job I wouldn't do for any amount of pay. It's a rough one, and while some of them are scum who should never have been given a badge, not all that turn out to be lousy cops are dirty or abusive of their power, but the "bad cop" thing can manifest in a lot of things that don't rise to a criminal level.

No, I really haven't had a lot of negative interaction with cops.

I would love to be a Police Officer, but I never tried because I'm pretty certain I would fail the polygraph test.

Well even in my limited travels, I've seen things I don't even like to think about, much less talk about. If it was my job to see some of the shit I've come across on a daily basis, I'm not so sure I'd be any less pissed than some of them are.

Pro tip: The polygraph is a simple lie detector test. If you tell the truth, you pass.

Most of the time, it can be beaten and therefore isn't quite the tool they make it out to be anymore.

Ever had one before? Administered by Federal Police?

Can't say that I have, but I wouldn't mind giving it a go. It's all based off of body reactions to the questions, that is why a sociopath can pass them easily. Well, that is what I've been able to gather that is.

Not quite sure what you are going for, as it is documented that sociopaths can fool lie detectors. Is there a drastic difference between local, state, and federal polygraphs? If there is that is pretty shitty for the locals if they have a sociopath on their hands. Again, I have no personal experience with this and new knowledge is good knowledge.

saw an episode on ID where the wife kills the husband but passed the polygraph with flying colors. Years down the road, the guilt got the better of her and she confessed.

Sure, I'd guess polygraphs can be beaten, but you're discussing things that are .001% odds. Lie detectors - at least those federally administered (can't vouch for any others) - are pretty accurate. And they're not meant to determine absolute guilt or such.

"Proponents will say the test is about 90 percent accurate. Critics will say it's about 70 percent accurate," said Frank Horvath of the American Polygraph Association. "Many people refer to polygraph tests as lie detector tests, and that's a bit of a misnomer.
That's a pretty big swing on accuracy, not sure where you are getting the .001% unless you are referring to sociopaths like in my example. If the swing is that large though I still wouldn't trust them to say someone is guilty or not. This is why more research has to be done for things like fMRI.

Sociopaths and compulsive liars can beat polygraphs.
