As I've said, assault rifles were banned and haven't been allowed to be sold to the public since 1986. All you "gun haters" need to watch this 6 minute video and understand what is currently being talked about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C-CLsMRcA0

The biggest myth being perpetuated out there right now. And it's all based on appearance. Basically the same as arresting a woman for prostitution based on the clothes she's wearing when she goes out for a night on the town. If it looks like it and all... Also, this very video is being discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=64989

Sorry, didn't see it posted. But you know this forum, they tend to ignore things they don't have intelligent answers for. So an extra posting won't hurt.

I don't think anyone is "chicken" for not responding. This thread is just a rehash of the other gun threads. Banning military "style" weapons doesn't make sense because "style" is not a strict enough qualifier. There are other facets of gun control legislation that make a lot of sense.

I didn't post anything yesterday, but I did share this video with some friends and family. I think a lot of people don't know the distinction between these two rifles. I do, but I enjoyed watching the comparison anyway.
It's a shame that politicians are exploiting this play on words to ban these "assault weapons" just to look like they're doing something about the problem.

I thought that fully automatic assault rifles were banned but that you could still buy a semi-automatic assault rifle. That was my understanding of the current gun laws in the US and that video confirmed it (more or less). I can understand why people would want to ban assault rifles because it is possible to give a semi-auto rifle full auto capabilities. You just have to know what you're doing. I personally would not make my gun full auto because I have no training with those weapons and my accuracy will be shittier than it already is. More important is the ever increasing cost of ammunition. Do I have the money to turn a semi-auto rifle into a full auto rifle? Maybe. Do I have the money to spend on ammunition while I learn how to shoot accurately with it? Nope. Not to mention that I could break the damn thing while attempting to make the change.

Not only that, but if you get caught tampering with the gun it is a felony I believe. Really not worth it IMO as you can still just keep pulling the trigger and bullets come out until it goes *click*
