  • He didn't say anything real mean. Just that White only had 1 catch vs him, and he would shut him down again next season. Said 1 on 1 White couldn't do anything vs him, and Atl had to try and hide him by moving him around. He also siad it's not trash talk when it's fact. :D

Yeah, but Chancellor is just as guilty as Sherman for that catch. Sherman was supposed to have help over the top and Chancellor was no where to be found.

...and the scheme is guilty too - Chancellor helping over the top against a receiver like White is a bad match-up. Good play design by the Falcons as well.

  • I definitely agree with him keeping on talking smack. If they're gonna keep on forcing it to Roddy, he's bound to make a play at some point. Sherman did an amazing job in that game and he has every right to be proud. In the first half he seemed like the only one that came to play. If a player stopped talking smack as soon as someone made a play on them, he'd have to shut up real quick. That's not a useful standard[1]. A better standard is to stop talking when you're not the best of the best or when someone own you. Roddy doesn't own Sherman, and you and I both know it. So does Roddy.

Can't wait until their next match-up. Wanna bet on whether Seattle loses next time?

[1] Now if it's more like, as I suspect, the people who post U Mad Bro image macros taunting their own team just don't like smack talking in general, that's fine. But be honest about that. We all have different ideas about what constitutes class, e.g., I don't find some folks' user pics classy.

  • I think any excitement gained over white burning sherman was lost when it was apparent seattle should have won that game since the falcons couldn't even beat the 49ers at home after a huge lead. We can take a look at that picture all day long but I think we all know seattle had a way better shot of beating SF than atlanta did. Every fan in atlanta knows it as well.

  • After getting a pretty good look at Sherman's personality this year, I am well convinced that he will be looking to get the biggest contract for a CB in NFL history when the time comes. He does not seem like the type to give a discount to anyone, especially considering his current 5th round salary. I hope that negotiation doesn't get ugly.

With all respect to your point, I totally disagree. The fans of Atlanta know one thing...they beat the Seahawks. Whether they lost to SF or not, or whether we beat SF or not, has no bearing on that fact. Coulda', shoulda', woulda' don't win titles and as a diehard Hawk fan, I felt nothing resembling victory at the conclusion of that game. We lost and Atlanta deserves credit for the way they came back to beat us. This isn't our Seahawks of old. This is a championship calibre team and we must no longer make excuses in defeat or accept moral victories, IMO.

  • I am so glad I bought a Sherman jersey. In the big picture, Sherman played lights out. He was knocking passes down and making it look easy. I like the confidence, especially for a VERY young player. Everything he is doing is on skill right now. As he learns the tendencies of QB's and WR's, he will improve.

The talk is hilarious, he backs it up 100% and is load of laughs. The other teams' fans hate him and they have nothing on him. His comment was something like "shut me up if you don't like it, complete some passes, but that's not going to happen". LOLLOL. Yeah, the Falcons beat the Seahawks in 2012. It won't be that close next time.

I don't think he's going to give us a hometown discount, but I do think that if the Seahawks are proactive about renegotiating his contract after this season (which is the earliest point they are able to do so) I think both sides will be able to work out a deal. Remember, part of his motivation is the number of teams that passed on him in the draft. If Seattle comes to him and says, "we want you here, let's figure out a way to make it happen," then I think Sherman will respond to that.

Agreed, it did throw someone under the bus, inevitably. But it's also true, he was supposed to have help over the top. The reason why I like this statement, is because I'm quite tired of all the cliches most players are pigeonholed into saying. He could've very easily said 'I'll take responsibility for that play', but then again, if he had answers like that nobody would want to interview him in the first place. He also went on to say that if the blame falls on him, from outsiders, that's fine.

The way I see, he's just a smart guy with long explanations. He knows he fell during that play, but it wasn't his fault alone the play happened, and he shut down Roddy White the rest of the game, and he knows it.

Oh I see you want him to be Kelly Jennings, hmm all this time we had Tim Ruskell on the board and didn't even know it. His character is in question we probably should just trade him for nothing like Ruskell did Djack because he spoke up also.

How come when someone expresses an opinion that favors sherman keeping his mouth in check you guys have to draw comparisons to players of the past that sucked? Sherman trash talking has nothing to do with Kelly Jennings. Why can't it be ok to be classy and a kick ass football player as well?

Just because some of us would rather he not talk so much doesn't make us want to trade him or make us haters.

    1) no one is perfect
    2) smack is about getting the opposition to think about smack and not the game.

  • Hugh Millen once said he PREFERS and wants his CB's to be loud, flamboyant, smack-talking types. The position lends itself to that self-confidence, since you're alone on an island.

    I agree.

Plus, it's not dumb smack. He's very clever with his smack...there's a difference. Ochocinco was clever and funny. TO, not so much. Neon and Woodson, some of the best ever.

  • And he really pitched the Seahawks to Charles Woodson.

Said Woodson could help us become the number 1 defense.

Not sure why certain fans get all itchy when our players talk trash. This is an entertainment business... these guys arent saving the world, come on now.

Just got done watching "The Cabin in the Woods". Maybe they are saving the world by placating some ancient god of spectator sports :) Beats being a bloody sacrifice to a family of zombies.
Richard Sherman doesn't just wanna get in your head, he wants to build a vacation home there.

Oh I see you want him to be Kelly Jennings, hmm all this time we had Tim Ruskell on the board and didn't even know it. His character is in question we probably should just trade him for nothing like Ruskell did Djack because he spoke up also.

    :)

I have no idea what you are talking about. Where did I say trade him or we should get rid of him. His mouth is a bit much for my liking that's all. I like Sherman the player and yes, i own his jersey. That's how much I want him gone. I just wish he would be more Marshawn and less Prime Time.

BTW saying it was your teamates fault and not yours is throwing your teamate under the bus.

  • I see it as you want the production but for him to just play and not toot his own horn, as a 5th round pic he is not only playing with a chip but playing and marketing himself for his payday along with giving recognition to this defense.

The no personality defense is what we would have if this was across the board, nobody was jumping all over Kenny Easley when he said he wanted to make people pay and hurt them when he played safety. He said hurt not injure and clarified it. He backed it up and as a Seahawks legend it was an excepted comment because he enforced it and backed it up. I see no difference here from a CB position. I have a problem with players that talk it but don't back it up. As long as Sherman can cash the checks he writes I have no problems. He does it in a way that doesn't bring flags on the field as well. How many other guys can boast and have the focus he has when it's game time.

I would expect from your perspective you loved Joe Frazier but disliked Ali also given the two types of personalitys, both were good but brought pre fight build up a lot differently.

Took the words right out of my mouth Pehawk! Prime is also my FOAT. Sherm is the first since Prime to remind me of Prime. If Sherman can get better, we will be sitting pretty with that beautiful bastard on the team! :thirishdrinkers:
