I wrote a guitar instructional book, and all of my scale patterns I drew up in Excel. Is there a way to convert them to word?

I am a little unfamiliar, and don't have access to either Word or Excel right now.... but a couple things you could try:
1) Copy the cells you wish to convert in Excel, and then simply paste them into Word
2) Try saving as a text file, as opposed to the default Excel spreadsheet file

You should be able to copy/paste. What version of word/excel are you using?

Im using one for XP, its 2002. And I used the grids to look like a guitar neck with the corresponding finger placings drawn with little circles. It definitely is not rendering the way it was drawn.

You can embed an excel spreadsheet in a word document -- it should render close to how you diagrammed it. The limitation you're dealing with in Word is print margins. Try landscape.
That way if you want to add text to your diagram.
OR try the opposite approach. Add text boxes in Excel and forget about Word.

So far, I have not been successful in getting an exact reproduction of my graphs in Word, the lines and dots are all over the place and I tried using landscape even before starting this thread.

If you're just trying to get the image, you could take a screen shot and drop that into word. It will be pretty tough to get that to import into anything else. Excel isn't made for drawing pictures.

Copy and paste special to a pic format - that allows you keep the formatting and manipulate the size.
But, yeah, forget word. It's for girls or artists. Oh, oops.

Thank guys but the only reason to use word is for publishing. And of course excel isnt good for drawing, however, it worked great for laying out a guitar neck and the appropriate finger placings in every key.
I put a lot of work into it, and maybe I'll just require people to use word and excel to download a copy of my book.

Excel 2010 has a "Save as PDF" option. I'm not sure if your version does (guessing not). You could have someone who has 2010 open your file and try to save it as a PDF to see if it converts correctly.
Check your PMs.
