So apparently the Department of Homeland Security now has the right to search and seize any electronic device they wish, within 100 miles of the United States borders. Could our government wipe their mouths with the Constitution any more?

They've been doing it anyways, they just had a study that was supposed to take a month or two to decide whether or not it was constitutional. The document ended up taking 2 years instead and was only 2 pages. It's been going on for quite a while from what I read.

There should be reasonable suspicion. It seems odd that someone would want to search a laptop that didn't have reasonable suspicion.

Here's hoping the ACLU wins this one.

Hey, here's one where I think we can all agree on (even me, the Government can do no wrong guy!).

Fuck! Most of us live within 100 miles of the border. (One border or another.) I read last year where the Border Patrol was stopping people near Port Angeles; just for folks looking like IAs! Gestapo city, next stop!

I hate when MY government pulls shit like this!! Just another reason for me to keep my firearms. :les:

If you live in Seattle or north of there, then you are within 100 miles of the border.

I laugh at the pitiful fools that think it would be a good idea to limit/remove the 2nd amendment.

Oh yeah? All these "socialist" changes and taking away "freedoms" and "rights" have been going on for years. What exactly has your ownership of guns prevented? Does it make you feel better? You think the government isn't doing things because citizens have guns?

At what point will you start using these guns?

They already own you.

I agree that I am already owned. If I cross a line outside of the country, Mother can pinpoint me and drop a drone on my ass. :179417:

I think there is plenty the government doesn't do, sheerly because they are afraid of the consequences.

At what point will the guns get used? God, hopefully it never comes to that point. It's not like those of us who feel the government is grossly overstepping their bounds are organizing a reprisal for a specific date. It's going to happen once a person, or a group of people, are pushed to their breaking point and their message finds sympathetic ears. Is it inevitable? Not at all. Is it a farfetched concept? Not remotely.

To put this in perspective, if you live in Mountlake Terrace (98 miles from the border), DoHS could perform a warrantless search and seizure of your cell phone, laptop, gaming console, home computer, probably even your television.

A good question is "which one of our "representatives" is passing this legislature?" And a follow up, "why are we electing these them?"

Answers: All of them. And because 51% of the people voting have below-average intelligence.

Remember, the same voting public that gives you our elected officials gave rise to the popularity of Justin Beiber, 12 million reality shows, 7 million talent shows, 50 Shades of Grey, and credence to a metric shit-ton of crappy Hollywood movies whose only redeeming factors are tits and explosions.

Now the public wants Big Brother government to step in and keep us safe from ourselves.

Take a good, hard, look in the mirror. If you've voted in a Congressional election, for a member in either party (though especially the Democrats), and your guy won the election, you have probably voted for someone in favor of these policies. Good job.

I'm not here to defend the democrats but which party wrote and supported the patriot act pretty much unanimously. Cue the jeopardy music...... The pubbies opened up pandora a box with the patriot act and we are all now starting to pay the price!

And of course the fact that many of those very representatives who voted against the Patriot Act when Bush was President voted to strengthen and widen it when Obama was president. This isn't a party issue, it's a power issue and no matter which party is in power, they will continue to use whatever means necessary to erode the rights of all Americans

What about my comments isn't accurate? Or is Justin Bieber not that big a thing anymore?

Oh, I never disagreed. I was just busy restocking the canned goods stash in my basement, so I didn't say more at the time.
