Greatest show in TV history. Without question.

Nearly impossible to narrow down my favorite scene, but here's a few.

**WARNING** Language not suitable for work

Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale were amazing as bro's. And even more amazing as enemies.

Really like the analogy between chess and gangsters.

Love me some Bodie. And love the way they refer back to the season 1 scene. My 2nd favorite charachter other then Omar.

Carver and Randy. This one made me cry.

Finallly, probably the best scene, but i'm not going to post it here cuz it aint the shack, was McNulty and Bunk exploring the crime scene using only the word F**k.

So many other amazing scenes as well.

I had never watched this show before, but one of my good friends always would say "sheeeeeeeeeeeeiiiit" and I thought it was hilarious. I finally realized where it was from and started watching the show. Hooked immediately and watched it as fast as I watched Breaking Bad.

I knew the chess scene would be in your list, J. :th2thumbs: It's a great one.

Man...Favorite scene from The Wire...I'd have to say it might be the one where Rawls gets screwed and stuck with the 13 homicides after McNulty faxed the tide charts to the other agencies about those dead girls in the shipping container. Can I merge that part in the homicide office with the conversation in the bar afterwards with McNulty, Lester, and Bunk? Lester: "I swear to God, Jimmy, the man stayed in his office the whole day!"

Rofl...Oh, man. "Freaking" McNulty.

Man, i just read that the actor who played Proposition Joe, Robert F. Chew, just died a few weeks ago. Kind of cool fact, he was the acting coach for the four kids that played the roles of Michael, Randy, Dookie and Daemon., as well as the chick that played Snoop.

The real-life Omar died recently, too. :(

The Wire was the "sheeettttt". I finally gave into the hype last year and watched it all in a couple weeks. Best show I've ever seen.

Nick Sobotka's house from season 2 in Locust Point was two blocks from my former house (lived there for five years).

I started watching The Wire because I lived in the city when it was on. It probably makes it even more awesome when you live there and understand just how well Simon injected the local reality into his show. When your neighbor is talking about cops and refers to them individually as "a police" it's unusual at first. Depending on which neighborhood you live in, you get some sort of variation on "Bawlmer, Merlin" as being where you live.

My favorite scene is the one where Bunk and McNulty are interrogating Cheese (underrated character) because he killed his fighting dog and hearing it on the wire they thought it was a person.

So if I like Sons of Anarchy and Breaking Bad, etc. I'd like this show?

Never watched it.

Well, those two are quite different from The Wire, but The Wire is just amazing on a whole different level. It's ultra-realistic, the former two are not. Hard to explain. Give it a try.

The Wire is in my top-3 favorite shows, but it's been awhile since I've seen it.

Favorite scene? I thought the part of McNaulty going undercover and ending up having sex with the prostitutes was pretty funny, but there's probably a hundred other scenes equally as good if not better. It's just a smart, badass show.

Yes. I love all 3. But the Wire is on a whole different level.

F'n awesome show! Can't even begin to pick a favorite scene. Favorite nonsense seen is the "mothereffer" scene with Bunk. Love some Bodie and Omar. Was on this show from day 1. I don't hold it in quite as high regard as the first few Sopranos seasons, but definitely one of my favorite all-time shows. Lester was a great character too. Man, I'm loving the reminiscing now, think I'm going to have to break out the DVD's and live it all again. Highly recommend the book as well.

Had to go back and find this thread to thank you guys for introducing me to this show. I remember reading this thread in passing and had never heard of the show. I now have HBO so I decided to give it a try, remembering this thread, and now it's my favorite show. I'm almost done with season 2.

This scene is just brilliant. (Warning: Language)

I think I watched the first 2 episodes back when this thread started... it didn't hook me.
