Reading that Jets may want to unload Revis before his contract is up at the end of 2013.
his salary is 6 million.

Flynn for Revis?

Imagine Sherman, Revis and Browner..

It'd be fun. And, the Jets and Seahawks ARE friendly franchises. Even more so now.

I'm so turned on by this idea.

I don't think it will happen, but if it does that sure would make for an even more imposing secondary. That would be funny if we moved Brandon Browner to Hill's position, essentially a fast lengthy LB to cover the TE and RB coming out of the backfield for a pass lol.

Why? you don't pay a CB 6 million to play nickel, and all you were complaining about wasting money on a Back up QB. That would actually save your season possibly.

for that reason.. I would put Revis on the outside with Sherman..
Switch Browner to SS Bench Kam(who I love dearly, but his coverage is suspect I think)

for nickle.. Revis to slot, Browner to outside, Kam to Weakside LB, Guy to SS

Ah. San Diego.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means "a whale's vagina."

In what world would anyone trade the only DB in the league who could be argued is better than Sherman (not saying he is), who is worth a fortune, for our backup QB?

If Revis WERE to be traded, the haul would be enormous, probably exceeding those for previous top flight DBs, and he would require MUCH more than a journeyman QB who has flashed ample potential but has yet to demonstrate the ability to start consistently. I wouldn't be willing to pay the inevitable price.

Presumably we'd be throwing in a first round pick too, given that we're talking about the NFL's best cornerback when healthy?

Revis is a "lame duck"
Jets want something before his contract expires.. they can't use the FT on him, they would just lose him outright.
He's good for a year.

this drops the asking price way down.

Sherman and Revis on the outside.
Move BB to SS.
Slide Kam down to take Hills spot.
Thurmond in the slot.

Or....

We could leave $#!@ alone and draft/bring in more pass rush.

Revis injured last year, Revis makes more then our whole secondary combined, Revis cost us a back up, a draft pick and a lot of salary. Drop off from Browner to Revis isn't that steep for what we do as press and physical I think Sherm and Browner better. Also Maxwell and Lane are complimetary replacements if needed. Schnieder has shown he and Pete can find All Pro DB's in the draft, FA without paying them prima donna wages.

Revis is the T.O./Chad Ochocinco of Dbacks. We don't need that kind of primadona on this team. Not worth the headaches.

I'm against it.....
Unless its the single free agency option available.
Lets spend our money on the most important position on defense.....pass rushers.....much better idea!

6 million is a bargain for somebody like Revis. We could afford to do both.

The Jets are a circus, holy hell did they go down hard. Good Luck Idzik!

Who has the worst QB contract situation, Arizona, Buffalo, NY Jets, or Kansas City?

You know what....for a one year rent a player on a Superbowl run it wouldn't be the worst idea.
I wouldn't be mad at all. Still think resigning jam, signing Melton, and also one of the better pass rushers.

If this trade actually did happen somehow, and John Schneider wasn't the unanimous executive of the year in 2013, it would only be because the press thinks Seattle is in Russia somewhere and therefore ineligible for postseason awards.

Revis is a free agent after the 2013 season and has a no franchise tag clause in his contract and will want 10-13 million a year. It would be a luxury while having the legion of boom.

Yes, but if its a luxary we can afford and we want to maximize our Superbowl chances...why not??
Also, the salary cap impact would be revis contract minus Flynn's.

Furthermore, if the move doesn't pay off we can let him walk and gain the salary cap relief at that time.
Revis being in a contact year means good things for his projected performance.

I've changed my mind.....what could Flynn be traded for that improves our Superbowl chances more than revis would?

Still would be suprised if the jets went for it.

For arguements sake, if the choice was Revis or a top 3 tech DT which way do you go?

Jay Ratliff, Dallas Cowboys

They also need a back up for Romo.

Idzik is the key. If he's a fan of Flynn, he might want to trade for him. Especially since he is comfortable with Schneider from their time in the FO together.

This definitely would not be a straight Flynn for Revis trade, but I bet the conversation could be started. But how Idzik feels about Flynn is the key.

Why not, he got a DWI, so what, makes his value a bit less and the trade more balanced and it's with a team that could use Flynn and a top DT, your not going to find a lot of match ups for this trade. This is one that is feasable and meets needs and the Cowboys are deep on the D line.

Because revis would be more impactful than the 31 year old Ratliff whose production is on the decline. The dwi isn't the breaker, but it doesn't help.

Not that I wouldn't trade Flynn for Ratliff, but revis is a better deal and we would still have enough to land the top St in free agency. I'd much prefer Melton over Ratliff. Add revis and a solid draft and wow.

6 mill a year? Hell yeah.

Cut Red Bryant, put anyone else there, and give me Revis!

Were looking at trades we have DB's if we can get Ratliff at Salary: 4.875 million USD (2012)

or so we already have the best secondary, we draft kids and have a good DT that can pressure inside while they get NFL ready. Revis is a one year deal.

Ratliff’s sack totals the last five seasons: 7.5, 6.0, 3.5, 2.0, 0.

Ratliff’s salaries due the next five seasons: $5 million, $5.5 million, $7 million, $7.5 million and $10 million.

He's improved every year and while a long term deal is in place we may be able to re negotiate that and get shorter contract or something also.

5 and a half sacks in 3 years vs revis is no contest.
Revis by a landslide. His contract is more cap friendly too.

Why not get DRC who is a FA and will be had for a LOT less after being misused in philly for 2 years. He's 6'2", had decent ball skills and is a MUCH better fit for a press man system that we run compared to the zone heavy scheme philly had been running. He is also what, 26 years old.

Fits Scheme
Has Height
Cheap
Young

Revis at 6 million? Guaranteed holdout. How many times has Revis threatened/actually held out of camp? Whoever gets him is going to break the bank on a contract extension, and if you think that is us with all the deals looming for 2014 you are nuts.

Otherwise, great idea.

Sherman and Revis? You'll never throw on us!

All my fears of Browner getting torched would go out the window too, its a win/win!
