No idea, mate. Wondered that myself. Just quoting the tweet verbatim. My guess is the intent was something along the lines of "almost a living legend HOF lock". But still! That would be awesome news.

Awesome indeed if Phil can help these guys get started. I agree with your Peter Vescey translator. Makes sense.

Wow. 525m for 65%? Hansen is not bargain shopping.

If this is true, it's awesome news for us. I can't help but feel bad for the Sacramento fans, though. Nobody deserves an owner like the Maloofs.

Sounds like Hansen only pays $340M

Quote:

RT @wojyahoonba: The $525m price is a "valuation" on the total franchise. For 65 percent, Seattle group would pay approximately $340 million

This a guy that inherited Jordan/Pippen and Shaq/Kobe... let's not get too crazy with the idea that the Zen Master is able to build a Championship Team.

While it's exciting that we can even talk about actually front-office people, I'm beyond giddy.

Anyone else from the Spurs FO that we can pilfer from?

If Phil Jackson is going to be choosing a coach I would bet my house that your coach would be Brian Shaw.

That duo almost came to the Blazers last year and it was rumored that Jackson would coach home games and Shaw would coach road games.

If i'm a Sonics fan i'd be happy about this as I think Shaw is going to be a hell of a coach. I dont think Phil Jackson will be anything special as a GM though (if thats his role).

My thoughts exactly!

I hope to god they don't talk to Larry Bird, that would suck major ass. He was horrible running the Pacers.

My wifes comments....Crap, another damn sport you are going to start watching again. YEP, GO Sonics. Heard Kevin Calabro announcing a game the other day, I wonder if he would come back?

Didn't the Sonics last GM come from San Antonio, Sam Presti? He was young, not many heard of him and does an outstanding job.

He's drafted 3 stars in his time as a GM, one was a gimmie with Durant, but Westbrook, and Harden? Not to mention drafting Ibaka, dudes a beast when it comes to the draft.

What was wrong with Bird? The current Pacers squad is all Bird players.

I hope they start a clean slate with the team. Isiah Thomas is bad. Don't know why he's starting. And jimmer fredette is Adam Morrison 2.0

So, I was playing with the trade machine, and I came up with this:

Marcus Thornton, Jimmer Fredette, and Francisco Garcia go to Memphis

Rudy Gay gets shipped to the Kings/Sonics

MAKE IT HAPPEN, LETS GOOOO!

Im amazed at the amount of people that will forgive the NBA for what happened here. I was a season ticket holder for many years and have seen more NBA games than any other sport by a mile. What happened was criminal. The NBA is a joke and has been in decline since the early 90's. Gone are all the great personalites, replaced by a bunch of classless punks.

No thanks. I have not watched a single NBA game since the Supes left and I never will. I will vote with my wallet. The NBA has to be accountable at some point.

If you havnt watched how do you know its so horrible? I think the NBA is as good and entertaning right now as its been since the prime of Jordan, Pippen, Barkley, etc, etc. Of course there are a few punks but most of the stars are really good, marketable dudes.

Question: Do you guys think the Kings might tank the rest of the way now to try and secure a high lottery pick? I don't know if anyone in the College ranks is a sure-fire #1, maybe someone can expand on that.

The draft this year doesn't have a marquee name, some good players but no one to get wet over. Next year if this Wiggins kid declares, that's the year to tank.

That's kinda what I thought. Just curious. Also, it seems like someone always emerges towards the end of the season that stands out though. We'll see.

DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 17 and 10 boards - third for centers. He's a piece to build around.

A few weeks ago I would have said Shabazz Mohammad from UCLA because i've been hearing hype about him for a few years. Watched him for the first time the other day though and was not impressed. Looked like an average player who makes a lot of bad decisions.

Here's a 2013 NBa mock draft with just the players slotted in order to give an idea of the prospects.

Congrats, Sonics fans, now do your due diligence and actually attend the games, even when the team sucks.

The people of Seattle did show up to games until it was gutted and ran into the ground for the purpose of eventually moving it. its complete horseshit to say we didn't support our team.

You do realize that even in their last 2 years, the Sonics averaged around 16,000-15,000 fans per night. And this is in an arena that only seats about 17,000.

The Kings might just tank on their own - what reason do they have to play hard when they know the current regiem is probably history and the team is moving. Lottery, here we come! :)

Congrats, Sonics fans, now do your due diligence and actually attend the games, even when the team sucks.

You do realize that even in their last 2 years, the Sonics averaged around 16,000-15,000 fans per night. And this is in an arena that only seats about 17,000.

Why didn't any of them show up to the games, then? There were many occasions when Key Arena was anything other than packed.

Anyhow, I'm not trying to kill anyone's joy here. A lot of people are happy about the return of the basketball team, and I am happy for them.

The Kings have the ninth worst record. Aren't the lottery teams the ones who don't make the playoffs? I can't remember how the NBA works. Maybe we can get Stern to put the fix in and hook us up with a high pick guard to go along with Cousins.

Not REALLY. Attendence was never an issue. In terms of loyalty, the Sonics we're the heartiest fans in Seattle. Being contenders in 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's will do that.

Looking at the positives, it took Clay Bennett to get rid of Wally Walker, hopefully we don't get a new GM that is threatened by coaches that know more then he does.

Oh, didn't you hear? Wally Walker is special buddies with the Hanson group. He's getting a pct and Team President title.
