  • Not possible, imo. It would take a whole hell of a lot more than that to pry Fitzgerald away from Arizona - especially if he was going to a division rival. One QB prospect with 2 NFL starts won't cut it.

  • Fantasy Island aspect aside...Fitz is making 1.2 billion Samoleans or something like that. We can't afford it.

  • While I would love to have someone of Fitz's caliber, I do not want to make my enemy stronger. I also do not want to put Flynn in the same division with a possible chip on his shoulder that we would see twice a year.

Unfortunately, that trade can't happen. Flynn is easily worth both of them, but they play for different teams. Maybe they could split Flynn? Trade off weeks?

  • No way do we do this trade. Fitz is a mediocre at best wide receiver who has benefited from playing with some of the best NFL quarterbacks of all time while Flynn will take whatever team he chooses to 6 straight superbowl victories. Cards better throw in their entire next two drafts if we even want to debate this.

  • No chance. Wouldn't make sense for either side. AZ needs help on their O-line and a credible running threat. Doesn't matter who is behind center if those areas aren't addressed. You're telling me they're going to give up the face of their franchise for a largely unproven QB who will subsequently have absolutely no weapons to throw to whatsoever? Right.

For Seattle, just doesn't make sense to sink that much money in the guy. Added depth the receiving corp. would definitely help, but truly elite QBs don't need all-world receivers to run a dominant offense. I really hope we don't break the bank trying to address that area. Let's develop the pieces we have and add depth in the draft. If there's a good value proposition for an established WR, we should explore that as well. Absolutely no need to pay a king's ransom for a Calvin Johnson/Fitzgerald type.

Are you kidding? Stronger? Flynn would not make AZ stronger if you then took away Fitzgerald. It would make us stronger but certainly the positives brought by Flynn would be offset by the gigantic hole left in Fitz's absense.

Larry is taking up all the cap space and is the reason why the Cardinals suck.

I think its 8 year 100million dollar contract?

  • Honestly, if Fitzgerald was on the waiver wire I would not take him. Go to Spotrac and look at his cap hits for the next six or seven years. If we traded Flynn for Fitz, you might as well throw in Sherman and Earl, because we wouldn't have the money to extend them with that kind of contract on the books.

He also declined this year after putting up 1400 yards with the same QBs in 2011. Who's to say that decline isn't real?

AZ could end up releasing Fitz in a couple years. When that happens, I'd give him a reasonable contract. Until then, he's not worth it.

Do you realize HOW expensive we're talking for Fitz?

    2013: $5 million (+ $10 million option bonus due 3/15), 2014: $12.75 million, 2015: $8 million (+ $8 million roster bonus), 2016: $15 million, 2017-2018: $14.75 million, 2019: Free Agent

You need to stop following these people because they obviously no nothing about player values. On top of that, Fitz is the AZ team and his contract which was over 100M, would be hard to fit and would make it impossible to sign some of our own young stars.

    Hmm

    Peyton Manning had Harrison/ Wayne
    Montana had Rice
    Steve Young had Rice
    Marino had Duper and Clayton
    Warner had Bruce and Holt
    Aikman had Irvin
    Bradshaw had Swann and Stalworth

Just for starters , would you like me to continue

  • Montana needed Taylor and Clark and Jones to compliment Rice, but point of your statement is correct, you need guys that can seperate and catch the ball.

Most also had a decent rushing attack, James with Manning, Tyler, Craig, Watters in S.F., Warner Faulk, Bradshaw Blier and some Italian guy named Harris, Smith in Dallas, Marino was the only one that really had no rushing attack, and by chance the only one on that list not to win a Superbowl.
