This is why I play MechWarrior. Hard for me to kill people when my only videogame experience is with 80-ton war machines.

You have to be above and beyond delusional to be able to translate video game killing into real life killing.

That explains quite a bit in your case then, Roland.

Desensitization is real, but generally, it is only going to happen to someone obsessive about playing a violent game. Likely someone unbalanced before the video games. The video game may be a catalyst, but to blame it, that's just a pathetic attempt to justify sick behavior.

Parents who parent their kids, who make sure that video game time is reasonable, and games are age appropriate, generally don't end up with troubled kids. I've seen it both ways, be too strict, kids rebel, be too lenient, kids feel unloved and it's just as bad if not worse.

Billy Watson has a blog, called I Shoot Porn, and I like the interviews with the girls. One of the best ways to get your daughter to turn to a career in pron is with fundamentalist religion. It's mind blowing how many of those girls come from strict evangelical churches, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons. I actually knew personally an adult star (nobody big, but she was in several from the late 70's and early 80's), who was abused sexually and then pushed into adult films by her good Mormon father.

All the same, causal factors, do influence us, but by the time we've been around 15-20 years, saying anything is to blame is a cop out. We are all responsible for our own actions. We are responsible for the kids we bring into the world and how we raise them. Balance = good, extremes = bad. It's not that complicated really.

Exactly. And this is why I laughed when Wayne LaPierre of the NRA was all like, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Oh, and also video games kill people."

Way to contradict yourself there, Wayne.

Nobody's ever done this because someone would have to had built a house on train rails, and I'm pretty sure that it's been hit more than once if that's the case.

It would be awesome if you could do it, though.

Can we get a Kickstarter up to fund this?

Sort of disingenuous to blame games. Didn't the US Army sponsor one a few years ago and send it out free?

Yes they did, and it was a recruitment tool. I sent away for it, but I don't think I played it, or if I did I didn't like it. Personally I'm more of a Castle Wolfenstein, or Half Life fan. My last fighting game I really liked is free too (though you can pay and get better stuff). APB Reloaded rocks! Being an enforcer sucks though, being a criminal is much cooler, you have so much more freedom to wreak havoc!

Damn this is making me wish I had a game (my internet is too slow for APB currently). :sarcasm_on: I guess I'll have to go kill someone instead! :sarcasm_off:

yeah, video games cause violence, and back in the day we had kids go out side and play.

What did they play? War (before toy guns were banned) with cap guns, where we used a metal gun to aim it at our friends and pull the trigger until that fucker went BANG!

Then we went inside to watch westerns - where everybody had a gun and everybody got shot.

Ah, the good old days....

And MechWarrior rocks.

being able to beat your kids ass when the screw up
teachers and adult friends of the family beating your kids ass when they screw up
= no mass shootings

no longer able to beat your kids ass
teachers and adult friends of the family no longer able to beat your kids ass
actually getting arrested for beating your kids ass
having to resort to time outs and counseling
kids suing the parents
= mass shootings all over the place..

just an observation....

Yeah, those kids that get beat NEVER turn out bad.

Bad parenting is bad parenting. Some parents that hit their kids are good parents. A lot are horrible.

I won't hit my kids mostly because I have a weak jab.

Everybody knows trains can't play video games.
