  • Getting back to work already! There's at least 4 teams chasing the 'hawks already...might as well throw in any team with coaching vacancies as well.

  • I'm looking forward to seeing if Stephen Williams can make a push to make the 53. Someone posted about him a month or so back and he sounded promising. 6'5 and fast, but with a few injuries in his past.

We need an immediate impact player on DL, not a futures/developmental/who knows kind of guy. You only find that kind of player in the draft or free agency.

It's a few years old but it's probably still mostly accurate, I would imagine.

Players signed to “reserve/future” contracts means they are being signed for the 2008 season even though that season does not officially begin until March. Only players who were not on any NFL team’s active roster when the 2007 season ended are eligible for such signings; if they were under contract, then they would remain so until March. Players who were on practice squads at the end of the season are eligible to sign with any team.

IIRC, he had a couple big plays in the postseason, right? I thought he'd at least get a shot on special teams.

Thanks! I was wondering as well.

I remember him making some good plays in preseason. I was frankly surprised that he was cut. But we did have quite a bit of talent at that position.

I think Turbin took his spot. No?

Nice to see Toomer get a second chance. Will likely beat Hill out, at least.
Talent can get you to the playoffs.
It takes character to win when you get there.

  • Interestingly, they played Taua at halfback, fullback and the third TE spot during the preseason and I thought he showed promise in each of those roles. His versatility would come in very handy.

He said defensive ends. I will be surprised if any of these future guys are on the 53. Again you find pass rushers in the draft, Jason Babin is the one kind of freak garbage pile end signing we've seen the last few years and heck the Eagles just cut him.

I agree, you definitely increase your chances by going through the draft and free agency- but the point is valid- there can be SURPRISE players that come out of nowhere, regardless of position. It's possible. Maybe not likely, but possible.

Anyways, here's to finding that elite DE, no matter how it's done :thirishdrinkers:

  • Agreed, I also give the team credit for signing that personal trainer DE. I feel like expecting him to make an impact right away may have been far-fetched but let's see how he does with an off-season.

Gotta read and process the post, my man = ON DL.

Impact defensive linemen don't hangout in the CFL, and Kitna is a 1 in a 1000 reference.

I think with our 2012 campaign we will have no problem any longer luring A listers to this team!
