Where's Sharkhawk? Our WAC/MWest scout may have more info.

Guy was a freaking unstoppable monster in college. I believe the last game I saw in person was a BYU/Wyoming game in which he was playing. Guy was a total beast. This was years ago, and this was old school MWC ball. I don't know how he's developed since, but I thought he was going to be a machine in the NFL when I saw him play in college. I haven't watched him play since then that I can recall. But he reminded me of a guy that played for San Diego State that ended up being really good just a bit before and he played for the Packers. I'm trying to remember his name.... crap.... who was that dude. Initials were "KGB". Kabeer G something Bimela? What the heck. That guy. He had a high motor in college and was a destructive force. Chukwurah was like that guy. I thought he'd be a better pro than KGB. I was wrong on that one apparently, but he is right up there with guys that really impressed me over the years in the WAC and later MWC. Guys like Kirk Morrison, Dave Hawthorne, Brett Keisel, Paul Kruger (always disrupting in the backfield), Jerry Hughes (similar guy... ALWAYS in the backfield), Tank Carter, Eric Weddle (although he was a DB, the guy was everywhere and was a supreme blitzer).

If I had to compare him to a Seahawk (which is what I always do when watching college players). I always thought Chukwurah was like Rufus Porter. A smallish guy that was probably more suited to LBer size wise, but had a high motor and would just get in the backfield consistently and wreak havoc no matter how big the guy on the other side of the line was. He seemed instinctive. Like Jerry Hughes, he just knew where to be and was immediately in the QB's face.

I guess now they're depending on his smarts and his knowledge of lots of defensive systems and having the veteran tricks and such to come in and play if needed. I don't think it's a bad move. He's not going to come in and be Rufus Porter of course, but that's how he played in college. I am surprised now that I think back that he didn't have a really good NFL career, because he was one of those guys that seemed like he'd come in and just get to the QB, like KGB seemed to. To me, you could flip-flop either guy in college and I'd think you were getting a really good DE. Of course KGB had a much better career and was pretty dominant for a few years. I think he messed up his back or neck or some business though and kind of faded away.

Who has it better than us? We got a MWC/WAC scout. Homeboy just spouted off a scouting report on a 2001 draftee from Wyoming.

Awesome.

Bandit packages which I suspect we will see much of in this game. Depending who we would play next if we win, he could be released after the game to go after a different type of DE that would be more run stuff oriented.

If this guy even gets one sack, or forces a bad throw by Ryan, I will mark the F*** out!!! Yes that will be the biggest FU to the league of all time IMO

This signing is far more about taking Irvin's spot on special teams than anything else. Irvin has not made many plays on special teams, but he has an integral role in our kickoff coverage making sure to set the edge on the outside forcing the returner up the middle. If he does see time as the pass rush specialist any play he makes is just icing on the cake as long as his kick coverage discipline is there.
Didn't he block a kick or recover one?

No. It was Morgan, or maybe Malcom Smith that blocked the punt against Dallas. Irvin was close to it and may have partially blocked it himself, but one of the other guys got to it first.

Beat out Edwards, Maybin and LaBoy. It is a little funny.

Malcolm Smith got the punt block against Dallas.

I have actually been hoping that Carroll or the Special Teams coach would finally allow Irvin to try to block field goals off the edge. They had him lined up in the middle early in the season and trying to jump through the middle with his quickness, but I guarantee with his speed off the edge he could block kicks off the edge laying out the block them, but they haven't used him that way.

I predict Chumbawumba will have 3 huge sacks in this game and lead the team to victory.

If he does, the Tanzania Safari has to make a pitstop in Nigeria!

That's a LONG trip... and we'd have to take the ferry at Kinshasa.

Ok, you are INSANE! You are going to go through the Dem. Rep. of Congo and Burundi! Is this the price we must pay for Tanzania!

Ok, I'm in.

Edwards probably had to look at himself in the mirror and give himself a wink in order to get over this slight from our front office.

Yeah if a team doesn't even want you in a matchup against your old squad in their house.. that speaks volumes.

Hey, I just googled it. And much the way Google doesn't have an "avoid ghetto" option, it also doesn't have "avoid brutal murderous dictatorship" or "avoid canibals" options either.

I just got the alert from my Seahawks app that Clem and Hauschka have been placed on IR and Longwell and Chukwurah signed. So it's official now.

This is the best news this morning. Dude is from nowhere, no one knows about him, and we're all pretty damn sure he's going to be AWESOME (whether or not he actually will be). I love it.

I feel the exact same way

He'll be a special teamer, no way he does much else unless we get in injury trouble. I think many of you are overstating what he will be ready to do in our system. It will be nice to see him do something, blow up a kickoff returner, block a punt/kick or something. He will definitely motivated to show what he can do.
