You think limiting access to guns isn't part of the solution?

Limiting access to guns will fix the problem like limiting access to spoons will curb obesity. It is very obvious that limiting gun access will NOT fix anything. How do you plan to limit the access? If you're talking about street violence, the vast majority of those guns are illegally obtained as it is. There will be no effect there. 2/3rds (67.5) of all murders in the U.S. are perpetrated using a firearm, which means a 3rd are done via other means; you limit access to firearms, you'll just see more murders with things like knives.

Here's another example. How well does limiting access to marijuana prevent people from smoking it in the 48 states where it's currently illegal? ...Yeah.

All of your rebuttals are absolutely ridiculous. Honestly expected better from you Roland.

I want to respond individually but your rebuttals are so bad I just get frustrated typing. You're not an 8 year old, you can figure out why.

Spoons... weed? Get the fuck out of here.

Well, don't you expect others to refute all of your stupid comments?

"Your position is dumb because it just is, duh, can't you see that?" is the standard on this board, and it's why I rarely feel challenged in my positions. I personally don't see a lick of common sense in 90% of liberal planks.

My friend was gonna shoot up the schools once.

I told him "dude, you do realize this is a gun-free zone, right?"

and he was like "oh yeah, dude. I wouldn't wanna violate school policy. Thanks for the warning."

and that, my friends, is how gun control prevents murders.

Good point fendber... instead of trying to prevent things we should just let things happen freely, because if you can't prevent everything, you shouldn't try.

Does this mean we should consider stricter knife control laws before this happens in the United States?

You are correct! And since folks are always going to drive illegally, why have any qualifications for driving a vehicle? Why have laws at all? Having laws doesn't stop everyone from breaking the laws?.....right?

perfect time for an anti gun control thread. OK its too late, we as stupid humans have allowed people to make and distribute them so widely that it could never be controlled.

Sad day for guns and humans.

He injured 22 people. He didn't KILL 27.

This morning's news almost tips the scales for me. We obviously don't know how to handle our freedom. I'm not sure we deserve it anymore.

And them 22 kids are going to be scarred physically and emotionally for years.

Besides, what happened this morning in CT doesn't change my opinion. As long as fucked up people want to do fucked up things to other people. They will find a way.

I will re-iterate for you here what I said in the thread about CT... 13 years after Columbine and this nation still fails to protects our kids at school.

I know that there are 22 kids and their families who will be grateful to even HAVE those years. And I guarantee you that there are some CT parents who would give every penny they have for the opportunity to care for a physically and emotionally scarred child right now.

And how do you propose we protect our children at schools? Hire security officers armed with tasers or pistols to patrol every playground?

Wouldn't be a bad first step. Hell my daughters High School already has a police officer assigned to it. His sole duty is to roam the halls of said high school.

He interacts with the kids daily. Sure his primary job isn't to fend off would be attackers, it's to keep the kids in line.

Since you brought it up, it seems you may have an issue with that type of approach. What do you want? More of the status quo?
