So I was bored browsing football videos on youtube which brought me to Cam Newtons QB Camp with Gruden. After watching it, it reassured me just how much of a diamond in the rough we found in Wilson. I had to go back and watch Wilsons QB Camp again. It's night and day. Every curveball, every formation, every scheme, every call Gruden threw at it him, Russell Wilson answered with what seemed like before Gruden could even finish asking the question. Cam on the other hand....ummm......has mad SWAG Russell Wilson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IbYoeSf6GkCam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5rP8-pk ... re=related

At this point.. I'd say Cam has more athleticism. Wilson has more heart.
Heart usually trumps athleticism.

If by athleticism you mean is taller....cam has it hands down. Pretty much everything else Wilson wins.

I think RW is more cerebral than Newton. In my opinion that's why Cam seems to be more athletic because he has to rely on it more than RW.

Great Wilson video. Gruden really grilled him about everything, even his height. Gruden knew someone was going to get the steal of the draft. Glad it was us.

Heart usually trumps athleticism. Cam is taller...but that is it. Wilson played minor league baseball...and he is a football star.... I would venture to say Wilson has more pure athleticism. Height =/= athleticism.

I'd venture to say if you watched every QBs Gruden camp Russell Wilsons would have been the most cerebral. It was like two offensive coordinators were bull****ing with each other. Wilsons a coach on the field as well as QB.

Height =/= athleticism.
Not saying Wilson isn't athletic, but Cam is a freak of nature. 6-5, 240 and runs faster than a lot of running backs. Can throw the ball probably a good 60-70 yards without much effort. But again. He doesn't have the heart. He doesn't have the work ethic Wilson does. Really, few QB's have that. Goes back to what I pointed out yesterday.. Wilson had a REALLY .. just bad quarter and a half after the opening touchdown drive. And many many quarterbacks young and old would have folded from such a start, but Wilson never really shows frustration. When you watch Brady, Manning, Brees, Warner back in the day.. they all have that same calm/cool demeanor even when they have a 4 turnover game going on. It's a rare trait that can't be taught to a player, you either have it or you don't. Many do not, Wilson does.

I find it surprising somebody saying Cam doesn't have the heart. He singlehandedly pretty much willed Auburn to greatness. Look at that team since he left. They flat out suck. If that isn't having heart, then I don't know what is.

Shark,
College you can get by by just being a man amongst boys. In the NFL, everyone is a man.

interesting. For those criticizing Bevell and his empty backfield on 3rd and short, check out the 16:00 mark. Looks like he's actually playing to Russell's strengths.

I TOTALLY agree. Cam is a pure stud athletically... but he is VERY insecure and more often than not 'swag' is he byproduct of insecurity. On the other hand, Rdub seems to be the perfect case study of how important an involved, great father is in a young boy's life... imho. Speaking of fathers, I noticed in your siggy Shark that your Father and I have the same birthday! Must have been an awesome dad!
