I am sure a whole bunch of you saw the threads on the Seahawks overall defense and offense, and how high they are ranked in FO's system. Well they Hawks are #3 in defense, and are #2 in weighted (games that happened earlier in the season matter less than games that happened recently) defense, while they are #14 in offense, #11 in weighted offense. Now since FO is such a cool site, I can fetch some of the rankings for groups and individuals, and some surprised me.... Zach Miller is the #16 rated TE in terms of receiving DYAR http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/te2012Russell Wilson is the #14 rated QB in terms of DYAR, even after his disastrous start to the season. We might finally have a top 10 QB again folks..... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb2012Marshawn Lynch is the #2 rated RB in terms of DYAR!!! Only 13 behind AP! http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/rb2012Sidney Rice is the #11 rated receiver in the whole league in terms of DYAR, but then look at DVOA (more value per play, instead of more overall value, which is DYAR) and Rice jumps to #4! Woah! BTW, Tate is rated as the #30 receiver in the whole league, one spot below Michael Crabtree. Switch that number to DVOA again though (more valuable for receivers in our offense since they don't run a lot of routes) and he jumps to #21. Our special teams are #10 in the whole league... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamst2012Not bad at all. Here's some defensive line rankings, with the Hawks at #13 for run defense and #11 for pass rush. www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/dl2012Now here's some good offensive stats. In the whole league, we are #4 in run blocking, and #14 in pass pro. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol2012That's some really good run blocking. Here's our playoff odds.... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/playoffoddsRight now we have a 75.7% chance of making the playoffs. Hopefully that number raises after this week! And finally, in overall team efficiency, we are..... http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teameff2012#6, but we jump to #5 in weighted terms. I'll take it.

Damn and Rice had a few that got away, in the end zone too. Let's see what the numbers are like the rest of the season.

I think we have a really good shot at making the playoffs so far but not quite 75%.
FO's projections are a bit low for DET (11%), TB (14%), NO (1.5%) and ARI (0.8%). I think both DET and TB are in the 20-25% range based on underlying talent, and NO and ARI have low percentages that are underrated by simply projecting the past forward. If both are at least 10% then that brings the Seahawks chances to like 50-60%.

Just shaking my head at all the people who've clamored that our WR corps sucks and should be a top priority next offseason. Could it simply be that our rookie QB wasn't doing all that great? I'm glad to see he is improving in leaps and bounds, but a few weeks ago, that simply wasn't the case and some people refused to acknowledge it to the extent that they blamed it all on the WR's. If Baldwin doesn't have an injury plagued season, we've got ourselves a pretty good stable of WR's.

The cool thing about those rankings is that every one of them feels dead on if you watch this team as closely as we do. The only caveat I would add to their numbers is that while I think their 14th ranking for pass pro is accurate, it's dramatically impacted by Wilson's elusiveness. If Flynn were starting, we'd probably be much, much lower in the pass pro department.

Yeah i have a feeling in pass pro all they rely on how many sacks are to rank them too much... although it is comforting to see that instead of Arizona who's allowed like 42 sacks in last, they have Chi who's allowed 28. I still REFUSE to believe SF's O-line is that bad. They are not the #30 ranked pass blocking O-line. That must be a side affect of Alex Smith.
