I would want to be the guy holding the football during goal attempts. I would want to still find a way to be on the field and making the other team hesitate at the very least.

doesn't mean you can't try to convince to let him in practice. as a coach, I would think that it puts a QB on the field in a FG situation, which might give one or two opportunities to make a big play in a season.

Why stop there? He should return kicks, long snap, and play middle linebacker too.

'Cause it's so weird for a backup QB to hold for kicks?
Must have had a bad fantasy football day or something because nobody here should be that crabby after a W.

They should let him drive the team bus so he can be in charge of something.

I am just in the camp that RW is the QB, but a member of the team can and should add value. a backup QB holding for kicks is just always leaving the option out there that it might be something other than a kick. An opposing team just wouldn't ever really know for sure if something else was called.
I really don't think Pete is going to want to easily let go of a solid QB as a backup, and if he is solid, then adding a dimension of threat would be good.

Our placeholder is 2-2 for 58 yards tho.... They should already fear John Ryan!

I would be totally content to have sideline seats every game and make close to $10 million a year. Maybe that's just me.

Dear Mr. Flynn, If you read this forum, you see it might be necessary to take extra safety precautions when engaging in your typical daily activities. Install security cameras and lock all doors and windows. Hire a security guy. Take different routes on your way to and from work or home. Put any pets you may have inside and out of harms way. Especially if you have a bunny.

Maybe that's just me. you and i and most people for that matter would be. but as a player you want to be out there competing... he's not going to settle for being a back up, will be some rumblings in the off season i suspect.

I'm sure Flynn is frustrated, any human who has any semblance of a competitive trait would be. He just has to be ready if his number is called..
I firmly believe he would be a good starting QB somewhere, but its becoming more and more apparent that opportunity isn't coming here. Come 2013 I bet we let him seek a trade if not outright release him if he wants that opportunity (which he should).

There are teams that use the backup QB as a holder.I think Hass held points after and field goals when Trent Dilfer was our starting QB. Its not just the fact of giving the other team something else to think about,(see Rice's passing), but if things go to hell you have someone in there with offensive capabilities.
