This does concern me a little bit because one of his strengths was supposed to be his mental game. As of now, his mental game seems to be what is holding him back. He has shown flashes of brilliance physically (mobility, arm strength, and accuracy) but it seems like he can't do it consistently because he is thinking about what is the best option while the game is going on around him.
This should be something he can without a doubt eventually shake off, the only question becomes how long will it take?
Either it's just getting used to the speed of the game and trying not to make mistakes or because Pete has put on training wheels. He's not playing to his nature, he's trying to fight back his natural instincts and play within the parameters the coach has limited him to. Hass didn't like it, looking back perhaps Tjack didn't like it, Flynn may have been affected by it preseason and now Wilson may be affected. That isn't to say that Pete is wrong in this. It's frustrating to watch, but hopefully Pete knows what he's doing and in the end it will develop Wilson into a better QB. That's the hope at least. I think the idea is to not let him make too many mistakes at first, let the game slow down for him, then let him go back to playing the way he naturally plays once he's learned what you can and can't get away with at the NFL level. At some point the game will slow down for him or it won't and all anyone can do is wait and see. That's why every rookie QB is an experiment and some are busts and some aren't.
Richard Sherman doesn't just wanna get in your head, he wants to build a vacation home there.
