Our Friend BESTFIGHTSTORY Stabbed and Recovering

  • BlueThunder wrote:Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery Leif. Thanks for the update fargo. Some here are saying this is some excuse to hate the Packers and their fans... Really? This is just some drunk criminal asshole that happened to be wearing a Packer jersey. It's the same as the fan of some other team painting all Seahawks fans as jerks because some moron Seahawk fan threw a beer on him at Qwest. Every team has asshole fans. Just a fact of humanity. Anyways, looking forward to seeing you post again BFS! Take care buddy. Bill

Holy overly-literal interpretation and flat out missing the joke. Guess it's not an internet msg board, without someone taking innocent comments entirely out of context and getting all unnecessarily sanctimonious. lol.

Of course it's just one guy! Who the hell would say otherwise? (That is unless you're jumped by a gang of Raiders fans. Bit diff. ;) ) Still wouldn't mean I wouldn't associate what happened with me with the clothes the guy was wearing at the time. If I were stabbed by a guy decked out in Ferrari gear, guess what? I'd probably forever remember this fact forever every time I see that logo. And I can end up hating Ferrari's without hating those who drive them. Does that mean we're talking entire fan bases and people? Hell no! Come on now.

Sorry to take away the focus of this "GET WELL LEIF" thread. Let's get it back on track. Dude, that scar is crazy man. Yikes! I take it's as gnarly as it is due to the docs having to open you up. But that doesn't make it any less scary. That is one serious beauty mark. One the bright side, if anyone on this board can pull it off and turn it into a chick magnet, it's you. If Dom or myself got something like that, it'd just scare them away. lol. Again my man, take care of yourself. Get better.

  • I've been lurking these boards for just about ever, and always enjoy your posts - Best wishes on a speedy recovery, Mr. FightStory. It takes balls and a good heart to break up a fight among strangers, and a mind-numbing level of cowardice to pull a knife on the peace-keeper.

When justice runs it's course, at this time next year you'll be enjoying the hell out of life, and, despite his weepy objections, this clown will be having his poo stabbed.

  • yeah, there are multiple articles popping up on the internet and on the radio that are just plain inaccurate. some have said Leif was a Packers fan and this Hinderacker douche stabbed him. just terrible terrible reporting. i would love to respond to every one of them.

  • Whoa. This is all over the news. Just did a google search for "Packer fan stab" and got a whole bunch of articles. Including one with a pic of the scum bag. Damn. At least the fool seems he's going to get what's coming to him.

And yeah on the misreporting going on. From two seperate reports:

    http://www.twincities.com/allheadlines/ci_13516369
The Seahawks fan left the restaurant but was followed by Hinderaker, who was wearing a Packers t-shirt.

    http://www.startribune.com/local/637227 ... aec8O7EyUr
According to criminal assault charges filed Wednesday, Ryan Hinderaker, 30, "bickered back and forth" in the restaurant with a 41-year-old man about the game. Police said Hinderaker was wearing a Packers T-shirt. After the game, the man followed Hinderaker outside to confront him about his behavior. Hinderaker then pulled a knife out of his pants pocket and stabbed the man in the stomach, the charges said.

I'm gonna go against what the Star Tribune says, as they didn't even realize that Leif was a Seahawks fan, nor that he wasn't the one the dude was fighting with inside.

The Tribune also goes on to say that the stabber dude was the one to call 911, as if he was some kind of hero. Really? Not saying he didn't. I don't know the details. But the way they reported it seems really lame to me.

  • Thank you all, very much. I am so appreciative of all the love and support I have received from my family and friends and co-workers. It has been overwhelming and I am grateful for every word and gesture.

I am still in much pain and discomfort and I am weakened from not eating since Monday, so I wont be around much to answer questions.

Some of what you have found in the media reports is not accurate. I stand behind everything I did on that evening.

    Thank you all again.

  • I don't know what all has been said here and my reading comprehension and attention span are down, but it seems that i was very evry very lucky. Many internal organs are potential ltargets in the area I was stuck. My lower intestines were "nicked" twice, but fortunately they were not puncturing wounds, else I'd have likely suffered septic poisoning. Currently, they are waiting for my intestines to function normally.

  • I have been granted a premature release for hard work and good behavior. Still plenty of pain to sort and suffer through, but it will be nice to be back in the town where I grew up and watching the Hawks with my bro, dad and ma.

On a side note; I received a request from a producer of the Mitch in the morning show to come on and do an interview on Seattle radio next week. Haven't yet responded.

Thank you very very much to those who sent prayers and/or kind words/thoughts. They were invaluable.

  • The other upside to going on the radio is you'd get to tell the true story. Just like with how there was media misinformation, I've read on a few different places where people were saying ignorant crap like, "people don't get stabbed for no reason".

But I could also very much understand if you didn't want to have anything to do with anything else regarding this terrible ordeal.

Still, I think you should go on. Tell your story of why your a Hawk fan outside of Seattle, and about all the trips you've made to see the team play over the years. And then tell them that it's your dream to raise the 12th man flag. How cool would it be to have a real, true blue die hard rais it as opposed to more mountain climbers.
