Hey thanks! I think it helped that I've been an electronics tech for 30 years, but that sure was a lot of math to learn... Turns out the toughest part is getting a job, apparently. Still waiting to hear anything. If this keeps up, I'll be forced to go through a temp agency.

Hey Pat, my recent hire was the first job I got hired on without a temp agency since 2001 !!!!!!

No degree for the type of work I am doing, just a lot of experience in real life.

Got that call I was waiting for today (I was on a Mt Rainier ride-around and missed it - criminy!) and will be talking to the Hiring Officer at Puget Sound Shipyards tomorrow about being a Nuclear Controls and Instrumentation Engineer. Whoohoo! We'll be talking about the arrangements to take a tour on 7/15, which as far as I can tell means I'm hired and also leaves me time to ride my sorry ass down your way...

If you're going down there don't waste you time with that old geezer, there are way better looking posters down there than Rob.

Seahawks fan first and foremost forever, but I've always pulled for the Dolphins as well, since 4th grade. Props to your wife. Maybe you should post a picture for us in her Dolphins jersey as well? :th2thumbs:

My cat, Blitz. No, I dont usually dress him. He has sensitive skin (because he has to take steroids...because he has an autoimmune disease...) and sometimes rubs it raw in spots so when that happens he has to wear clothes.

Here's a more recent pic of me. Figured I'd changed enough since the last version to post another (if those previous versions even exist any longer).

Sorry for the lack of Seahawk threads.

At the AZ game a few years ago (the botched handoff game). I'm on the right. My Natalie is on my right. And my brother, RJDriver, is on her right. I'm totally fatter now.

Amazing job you have Vet, what culture are you digging up in those pics? I noticed one buried with what looks like long bead necklaces. Cool designs on the amphoras/pots (or whatever they are). Mongolian?

The first four are from the Kingdom of Saba around the time they were conquered by the Himyarites. The quality sucks because those were taken with a cell phone a few years ago. The last 2 are Pre-Incan mummies from Peru, rescued from certain theft (for selling on the black market).

My work only sounds cool. Its very INTERESTING to me..because I really feel like Im being paid for a hobby. The reality of it is I spend a hours and hours and hours going blind reading stuff that is either directly related to my next project, or stuff that I casually consult on..or stuff I think is neat and justify by saying some day I may have a chance to use whatever Im studying. Then, every 6 to 8 weeks or so I go to some place that university archeologists or anthropologists wont or cant go because they have more common sense or survival instincts than I do..and then I get to do the cool stuff for a short time..then I go home.. and spend some time in the lab with some things, and debrief sponsors of my work.. and then decide on the next project. Im lucky in that I have more projects on offer than I can do, so I can choose what is most interesting for me. Theres not much else to tell.. I rarely get to get deep into projects..proper archeology projects can sometimes take decades on a good site..I am lucky if I get 2 weeks because Im often at sites that are threatened by looting, by war, or things like religious fundamentalism (as an example, Islamic influenced governments in areas like Somalia feel its their duty to erase pre-Islam history..). So I do quick and dirty excavations, removing only the most important artifacts. As an aside before people explode on the cultural imperialism of taking other countries artifacts, the artifacts are returned once their home country is able to protect them again. For example, the above two mummies are now safely back in Peru.

Good lord, you're Indiana freakin Jones :th2thumbs:

No.. I get that a lot.. but really..I spend a lot of time in my office..reading. And when I dont have a project im working on, I read as much on biological evolution and so on as I do on archeological or anthropological topics. Im like a nerdy Indiana Jones without the Nazis or cool whip. I do have a cat however. And Ive never found anything magical. haha
