Screw that stupid sleevehawk. It's the only thing I don't like about those old jerseys.

You sure about that? I am trying to think of a team that wears a throwback in addition to an alternate and can't think of any.

I could be wrong. I was trying to think of an example also and I came up with the Broncos

-Home - All blue
-Away - Whites
-Alternate - Orange tops
-Throwbacks (10 yrs old) - Nasty brown ones with those striped socks

I'm not sure if they still have the orange tho....

I thought they said the "alternate" would be a throwback? Is the NFL now going to a 4th jersey "alternate"? I kinda doubt it - this is the league that told us we couldn't have 2 helmet colors back when we changed the last time.

Regular set/throwback = no blackout unless the NFL changes course.

I don't think so. The throwbacks are not considered alternates.... they're just our old unis. We couldn't wear them because they aren't considered throwbacks until they've been retired 10 years I think. 2012 will be 10 years

-Home
-Away
-Alternate
-Throwbacks (10 yrs old)

That is correct.

And I've heard Nike is pushing the NFL to get a 5th uniform in the mix. Not something that would have to be worn on the field, but which could be marketed as "official" team gear. A big reason why Nike got the NFL contract is they are much better at marketing sports gear than Reebok/Adidas. Reebok made $400m/yr for the NFL. Nike makes more than that on the Jordan brand alone. Their NCAA merchandise has been grossing almost twice that already. Apparently, they have been pushing the NFL to add one uniform to the mix to increase merchandising (more jerseys = more options for consumers = more sales). That's all stuff I read in a Nike shareholder report, and it's a big reason why their stock went from approx $20/share before the NFL contract to approx $90/share now. Nike is the best in the biz and I'm excited to see what they do for the Seahawks uni.

And how cool is it that the Seahawks will be the first team to get the Nike Pro Combat treatment? Heck yeah!!

I wonder if little underpaid Chinese kids will be making our uniforms for us? Go Nike!

Nice! Sorry to be a pain, but any chance you could switch the pants so we can check out the 'all blue' and 'all white' version of this?

I actually just got it off this website that was mentioned earlier in the thread...

Good info Linuxpro. In line with what my sources in team uniform maintenance tell me. Sources also tell me that the Seahawks have turned-down Nike designs that add new colors to the mix though. Matte finishes and carbon fiber looks are a definite possibilty.

My point is not that money will be made through selling new merchandise, it's that the team doesn't want to require all fans buy all new stuff to blend with the team again like it did in 2002. This is a different economy. Wholesale changes won't occur that mean money has to be spent to re-model the stadium, practice facility and offices, in addition to changing uniforms. Won't happen. Seahawks blue will be around for a while longer.

Like I said, new stitching (Pro Combat), maybe stripes will be wider/skinnier (Pro Combat), and certain colors will be emphasized or de-emphasized (Pro Combat), and possibly a new elbow-length undershirt (like Tarvaris already wears) most definitely will happen. I really don't like the way the pants and socks look on the Pro Combat uni look. Changes the whole feel of the sport IMHO.

My earlier post was simply to bring those hoping for a whole new color scheme back down to earth.

It's always about money regardless of economy. Sure as the sun shines that the Seahawks organization wants us to buy new gear. No one is required to buy new gear but people will find a way to get stuff even if it means selling blood. lol.

Yea, most of those were pure torture on the eyes, but #23 submissions were awesome! Yes, please.

Dark blue "chrome" with a matte finish green outline of the current logo would look purty damn sweet

How about one of those Oregon helmets just with the Seahawks logo instead of the feathers? Wonder if it'd look good with the Seahawks blue uni's...

Actually... looking again... it'd be frigging awesome.

It looks like the NFL is actually trying to tighten restrictions on alternate jerseys.

Consider the date this article was put out, though. June 7th, 2011.

Quote:
Alternate uniforms would be limited to two uses in the regular season (eliminating the preseason option).

• Alternate uniforms would only be used in Sunday-afternoon games (not prime-time or nationally televised games).

• Alternate uniforms would only be worn prior to the start of the “flexible scheduling” portion of the schedule, which begins in Week 10.

23. C.K. McKenzie is pretty good.
25. Travis Ness incorporates throwback logo and colors

Lots more to see. Some absurd and some pretty cool

Some of those are just gawd awful. Others are on the right track, but those are few and far between.

Most of them made me want to barf.

The NFL already sells grey jerseys and pink jerseys. Doesn't that count as extra uniforms for marketing purposes?
