How much GPU power do you have? Skyrim rapes it. I'm a fan of "PC always", but I run some pretty high-end hardware. (I have dual 5870s in Crossfire, and with everything cranked, I was in the 40s a lot of the time for frame rate.)

Nothing special, just a 1GB GeForce 9500GT that I've had for a while.

If you don't have the computer for it, go console.
My PC sucks, so I got it on XBOX and I'm very satisfied with the performance. Great graphics, great sound. I also prefer the controller to the keyboard for these games, but not everyone feels that way.
But if you have the computer for it, nothing beats that from a graphics perspective.
