  • I will miss Hasselbeck. To me he was a warrior. thanks Matt for giving this team an identity and some BALLS. "we want the ball and we are gonna score" helped us fans finally feel like we mattered again. Not a person here, or a fan that saw you play can ever say you didn't fight and give all you had. I wish him nothing but the best and will wear #8 to the stadium with pride.

  • Honored that I got to see his last game at Qwest. I'm sad that we didn't chant HASS-EL-BECK like he deserved.

Great player. Great man. Great interview. Only jersey I own.

  • Too many memories to count. Lighting up the defending champs has got to be one of the best last home games for a franchise player in history. That was magic, and I'll never forget that game. Also, I can't think of anyone else who could turn a pick-six for a playoff loss into a memory that I will cherish forever. The end zone slide in the Skins game is my all time favorite memory aside of when you hoisted that NFC title into the air. You hoisted that trophy for every Seahawk fan who thought we'd never get to do it...

Love you, buddy, and good luck!

This is directed at everyone, but it just plays off what Kansas says here:

I wonder what the consensus will be on Matt at the end of the year. Will seeing him in a different jersey open some eyes to his faults? (Or conversely, will his success in a different make some of us regret parting ways?)

  • We were away from home all last winter and were lucky enough to be in a campground with cable hookups so we could see that NO game. As many have said, it was great that he could go out with his last game at home like that.

We were out in the boonies the next week so didn't see the game but my brother in law who is a die hard Ray-Duh fan said he would have carried them through that game too if anyone could have caught the damned ball!

I clearly remember saying loudly "IF MATT HASSLEBECK IS THE ANSWER WHAT THE HELL IS THE QUESTION?" Well he answered that one for all of us. Despite his faults he gave his all every time.

I'm not very confident with the new choices so again will have to wait and see.

  • Man, I was hoping we would be able to keep him. I seriously don't think that CW or TJ are going to be better. I still think if someone puts a decent line in front of him that he could have a real nice finish to his career.

Our family loves Matt Hasselbeck. My wife and I got married in 2004. I've been a lifer with the Hawks. Anyway, she fell in love with the Hawks, and just expects us to go to the Super Bowl every year. Her favorite player is Hass...

Anyway, good luck and God bless, Matt. If they don't put you in the Ring of Honor, I'm gonna get a can of spray-paint and put you there myself!!

  • I first saw Matt fill in for Farve in GB on a Monday night game, he was impressive ... Then we got Holmy and he eventually brings this Matt Hasselbeck guy in and I was stoked !!! Everybody gave me crap for supporting the move and seeing the silver lining. In the end, I was right, he totally rocked !!!

I will always be a fan of Matt's, he is a class act and a heck of a person, always took the high road ...

I actually shed a tear when I heard it was over, hard to believe ... He'll always be my favorite.

Good Luck and God Speed Matt !!! I'll be cheering for you brother !!!

I hope he goes into coaching or the broadcast booth, so I can continue to see him around.

I created a twitter account to send him a thank you... probably the only tweet I will ever do but I figured he might see it

I was at work today and somebody said "isn't that a hassle to ...." - BAM instantly think of Matt. Walk into the laundry room and the washer and dryer have 8 minutes left.... I have a feeling things like this will continue for a while. He is a special man.

We got our season tickets in 2001 so it will be strange going to the games this year and not watching him play

Landry Jones, Matt Barkley, Andrew Luck and there are a lot of QB's in this class. Thanks Matt for taking us to the Super Bowl and good luck in Tennessee.

  • Man, I love and will miss this guy. Did you see his recent tweet?

    @Hasselbeck Matthew Hasselbeck

Could be worse-- could be flying all the way to New Zealand.... or to Pittsburgh.

    Too funny!

  • Thanks for all the great games and great times you gave the 12th Man. You have always represented our team and our city well. As a life long Seahawk fan... thank you.

    P. S.... we got robbed in the Superbowl!

  • It just won't be the same without seeing Matt roaming the sidelines. Ten Years is a long time to stay with a team. One thing I can say about Matt when he was on the field....he gave 100% of himself. More than once he put this entire team on his shoulders and carried them into the endzone. Thank you, Matt! :th2thumbs:

  • Thanks for the memories Matt. You saw this team through it's best years and I am really sorry that you couldn't stay. You made being a Seahawks fan so much fun and you were as fun and entertaining a player off the field as you were on the field and I will miss not having you as a Seahawk. I am sure your goofy sense of humour (and dress sense!) will be missed by Seahawks players and fans alike. A class act and in the mold of a player, person and leader that I like the most.

You have given so much to this team and it's fans. Can only wish you all the best. Really hope you find your way back here some day.

    Thanks

  • I wish I had pictures, but my favorite three Hass-defining moments are:

When after being hit on a scramble by Rodney Harrison (of the Chargers) Hass popped back up, got in his face and said, "you hit like a f#@king girl!"

Vs. Arizona, Hass recovered a fumble from a WR 8 yards downfield emerging from a scrum of opposing players with the ball.

My most recent one being his block of two Rams (I think) DBs to spring Julius Jones from 30 yards out after reversing his field for a TD in the south endzone.

As a Seahawk Matt epitomized what it means to be a leader and professional, but above all else Matt Hasselbeck was a competitor in every sense of the word.

Thanks Matt, the memories you helped make will be something I cherish forever.
Best of luck in Tennessee and all of your future endeavors.

We hope to see you back up here in Washington when it's all said and done.
