I'm rooting this season under protest. Seriously, bad move! He deserved so much better. God speed Matt, kick ass!

Matt is one of the classiest people in professional sports. Never brought any bad press to the team and was always someone you could look up to and be proud of. I hope he finishes his career with a bang and then comes back to claim his rightful place in the Ring of Honor. I will miss not rooting for you Hass.

Thanks #8! The only Seattle Seahawks QB to ever lead his team to a SuperBowl, what a great run that was! :) You are a warrior Matt, best of luck except when you play Seattle!

Good luck and thank you.

I hope you don't play for the Niners though. I hope after you retire you get a great TV gig so we can still watch you.

Good bye.

This is a pretty low day in my life as a Seahawk fan.. not post-Super Bowl XL low, but it's up there.

I'll always be a fan of Matt Hasselbeck - hope he goes to the Titans and takes that team to a Super Bowl (ideally losing to us) :th2thumbs:

I agree 100%

He started the first year I had season tickets, going to be strange not watching him run out of that tunnel...

My friend and I have talked about this moment for years: the moment Hasselbeck would leave, and what it would mean. It truly is the end of the greatest era for this franchise in its brief history. That era was all but over when Hutchinson and Holmgren left, and then when Big Walt left it was all down to #8. Inexplicably he willed our battered team further into the season than it would have been without him.

Our descent into mediocrity to below-average is complete with his leaving, and we will be there for the next 3 season at least I'd guess. It's not like we really have anything we're building around at this point offensively.

It was a helluva roller coaster ride. Now time to sit back and lower the 'ol expectations.

I will miss Hasselbeck. To me he was a warrior. thanks Matt for giving this team an identity and some BALLS. "we want the ball and we are gonna score" helped us fans finally feel like we mattered again. Not a person here, or a fan that saw you play can ever say you didn't fight and give all you had. I wish him nothing but the best and will wear #8 to the stadium with pride.

Honored that I got to see his last game at Qwest. I'm sad that we didn't chant HASS-EL-BECK like he deserved.

Great player. Great man. Great interview. Only jersey I own.

Attaboy #8.

Too many memories to count. Lighting up the defending champs has got to be one of the best last home games for a franchise player in history. That was magic, and I'll never forget that game. Also, I can't think of anyone else who could turn a pick-six for a playoff loss into a memory that I will cherish forever. The end zone slide in the Skins game is my all time favorite memory aside of when you hoisted that NFC title into the air. You hoisted that trophy for every Seahawk fan who thought we'd never get to do it...

Love you, buddy, and good luck!

I appreciate all you have done for the Franchise Matt, you are one of the best QB's Seattle has seen. But sometimes change is good and I hope it works well for both parties.

This is directed at everyone, but it just plays off what Kansas says here:

I wonder what the consensus will be on Matt at the end of the year. Will seeing him in a different jersey open some eyes to his faults? (Or conversely, will his success in a different make some of us regret parting ways?)

We were away from home all last winter and were lucky enough to be in a campground with cable hookups so we could see that NO game. As many have said, it was great that he could go out with his last game at home like that.

We were out in the boonies the next week so didn't see the game but my brother in law who is a die hard Ray-Duh fan said he would have carried them through that game too if anyone could have caught the damned ball!

I clearly remember saying loudly "IF MATT HASSLEBECK IS THE ANSWER WHAT THE HELL IS THE QUESTION?" Well he answered that one for all of us. Despite his faults he gave his all every time.

I'm not very confident with the new choices so again will have to wait and see.

Man, I was hoping we would be able to keep him. I seriously don't think that CW or TJ are going to be better. I still think if someone puts a decent line in front of him that he could have a real nice finish to his career.

Our family loves Matt Hasselbeck. My wife and I got married in 2004. I've been a lifer with the Hawks. Anyway, she fell in love with the Hawks, and just expects us to go to the Super Bowl every year. Her favorite player is Hass...

Anyway, good luck and God bless, Matt. If they don't put you in the Ring of Honor, I'm gonna get a can of spray-paint and put you there myself!!
