NET NATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When was NET formed and why?

Seahawks.NET was formed in 1998 by Todd Breda, a die-hard Seahawks fan frustrated with the lack of Seahawks coverage on the Internet. At the time, the Seahawksâ„¢ official site was little more than a static splash page with little to no information or content satisfying to the average die-hard fan.

Since then, Seahawks.NET has grown into the largest Seahawks online community on the Internet with nearly 6,000 members and content that is worthy of the national syndication it receives (Fox Sports, Yahoo! Sports).

The site was purchased by Seahawks fan Mark Olsen in 2008.

Seahawks.NET Management:

Todd Breda - Creator & Original Owner
Mark Olsen - Owner
Matt Lythrop - Lead Administrator (NET Nation)

.................................................

Do you have an archive of how NET has evolved through the years? That might be cool to see how the site has changed.

In fact yes we do! We have The Seahawks.NET Archive here:

http://www.pierceteam.com/breda/seahawks.net/archive/

.................................................

What is NET Nation?

NET Nation is comprised of all the community members, avid readers, die-hard Seahawks fans and supporters of Seahawks.NET that frequent our active forum community.

.................................................

Where is a list of the rules and policies of NET Nation?

You can find the complete list of rules, policies, and guidelines in this FAQ forum.

.................................................

I'm new to NET Nation. How do I create a signature or avatar?

The steps to create a banner signature and/or avatar can be found in the Rules, Policies and Guidelines in this forum.

.................................................

What offenses result in an immediate banning from this site?

Here's a few of the big offenses keeping in mind that we reserve the right to ban anyone at anytime for any reason.

Obvious Trolling (A blatant disregard and lack of respect for our members and our policies)
Spamming (Unsolicited posting of advertisements/products/websites)
Racial Commentary/Comments (ANY racial comments are strictly prohibited)
Posting Links or Images of Graphic Pornography (Outside of the Smack Shack)
Posting Death Threats/Threats to do bodily harm to another

.................................................

What are the rules on language?

NET Nation forums have rating systems for general guidelines. For a specific list of words that are and are not allowed please check the Rules, Policies and Guidelines.

.................................................

Please explain your rating system.

NET Nation forums have rating systems for general guidelines. The following is a guideline for your convenience...

PG Any forum with this rating means that very casual profanity is allowed but nothing to excess. Example words: Damn, crap, piss, hell, etc.

PG-13 Any forum with this rating means that standard profanity is allowed but not to excess. Example words: Shit, bastard, bitch, asshole, jerkoff, etc.

NC-17 The Smack Shack is the only forum in NET Nation where just about any profanity goes. F-bombs, etc. Outside of racial slurs, any word you can dream up can find its way into the Shack.

.................................................

How do I gain access to the infamous Smack Shack?

In order to gain access to our Smack Shack you need to request access by emailing our admins at: admins@seahawks.net. We will then add you to the Shack Group member list which will give you immediate access to the Shack. PLEASE NOTE: The Smack Shack is for legal age ONLY (18 and older). NO MINORS ALLOWED. We can NOT be held responsible for minors who enter this forum through deceptive means.

.................................................

How long until a banned member is considered for re-admittance (if ever)?

It depends on the offense, the banned member's history with NET Nation and the admin's discretion. Lighter offenses are usually given a two week ban. Medium offenses are usually several weeks to months and major offenses are usually permanent bans. There are many variables and each case is different so nothing is written in stone.

Always remember that we reserve the right to ban anyone at any time for any reason.

.................................................

Are there any organized unofficial gathering spots where I can meet all of these great fans?

NET Staff and NET Nation have endorsed Temple Billiards (2nd and Jackson, 2 blocks North of Qwest Field) as our official pregame/prefunk hangout. Pool tables, TVs to catch the early games, a non-pretentious aura, pizza and sandwiches and the usual alcoholic beverages are readily available.

Usually, Temple Billiards is not very crowded (unlike other popular prefunk spots in the area) so instead of spending most of your time waiting in line, you're enjoying your time with fellow Seahawks fans getting pumped up for the game. It opens at 10:00 for early-birds. Most start showing up about 11ish.

More information on Temple Billiards can be found here:

http://www.templebilliards.com/temple.html

.................................................

Why no historical forum?

The demand for it never seemed that high but we are always open to improving NET Nation and if enough folks ask for one, we will gladly add it to NET Nation.

.................................................

Why is calling a post idiotic, stupid, ignorant, childish or otherwise pointing out the obvious lack of intelligence presented in the post considered attacking the poster?

It shouldn't be. Technically as long as you are not calling the poster idiotic/stupid, etc, but the message itself those things that is not attacking the poster. Our number one rule is "Attack the post, NOT the poster."

Well I know that Scout added that icon to threads you posted in. Not sure if that's possible here or not. But I will swing it by Mark to see what he thinks. It probably wont be very high on the totem pole at the present time though. But we'll see what we can do.

That's as many penalties as he had Probowls.

sorry if this is covered somewhere, but I had been listed before as "ultimate Seahawk Fan" because it was a perk for paying members. Is that still posiible here at the new board? or do I have to settle for "NET Benchwarmer" again? just curious.

I will update your rank. For those we missed, PM us and we will fix it. This is for Premium members who had them over at the old board only. We are NOT taking new requests at this time, sorry.

Will there ever be an RSS feed available for this forum? Its the one thing I liked about Scout's forum software - I could subscribe to the individual forums and get each new thread sent to my RSS feed reader and be alerted to new topics and posts. I miss it...can we do it again?

Why does a PM shows in the Outbox instead of being sent? Is there a setting in your Profile to make PMs be delivered as soon as you do a submit. I have one that I composed and sent several hours ago and it is still sitting in the outbox.

PM's stay in the outbox until the recipient has read it.
