Who said we are proud? For all the chest beating superiority UW fans try and expel towards WSU, the last ten years have been a draw in the Apple Cup, and that's with Paul Wulff destroying this program for four years.
Hey, as bad as Wulff was...he never reached the ultimate low point for any NCAA Division 1 program: A Defeated Season.

If you haven't read it yet, here's a link to a greak Wiki article about the 2008 Mutts, including game-by-game breakdowns. It must be pure football porn for Duck fans...

(Also, at the bottom of that article, there is a link to the Wiki discussing the San Francisco 49ers' five Super Bowl victories).

I took it as recent history shows that UW really hasn't been that much more successful than WSU, if at all and the chest beating about superiority is related to an ancient superiority.

But, I understand you go in thinking that WSU fans have miserably low expectations and you want things to fit your paradigm. But remember 2007, we fired our coach after a five win season and an apple cup win, and UW kept their coach that same year after a 9 loss season.

College has always been for those I employ, not me. So, I root for the Cougs and the Dawgs, and will usually pull for whomever has the better Bowl opportunity come Apple Cup. But, I do tend to lean more towards UDub., just because I'm from Seattle.

With that, I must say, seahawks2k and DohBoy are working the Dawgs fans here. They are running this. Here's what I envision as they work over some Dawg fan running his mouth;

Yeah, the NCAA came down on UW pretty harshly. USC had it easy in comparison, and a lot of folks believe that UW was unjustly punished. That plus a long line of terrible coaches, and you can see that recruiting talent to play on a team that was banned from bowls, banned from television, and otherwise was gutted from contending would be impossible. Tyrone Willingham was terrible his entire time here, and they should have shown him the door prior to the 2008 season.

Its been about rebuilding and that process isn't a cake walk when you are in the position UW was in. The Dawgs are starting to show that the team is alive again. I like where UW is headed.

That is the recent history if you want to tell full stories. I would rather be a Husky fan at this point though, than a Cougar. That's just my two cents though.

Of course you would, the Huskies are further ahead than the Cougars right now.

And yeah, UW got completely shafted with the sanctions in 1993, but Don James promoting his dimwitted son in law to OC in 1992 lost them a Rose Bowl and another undefeated season. Then the "Dawgfather" threw a hissy fit when Lambright wisely canned Woodruff's sorry ass after the 93 season and didn't talk to his former DC for a couple years. Or does that truth go against canon?

You can't blame the sanctions on what happened after about 1999 once Lambright recruited and built that team Slick Rick took to the Rose Bowl. Instead they got crippled by a dumbass AD more interested in women's lacrosse and how Rick's ass looked like in khaki's to run an effective athletic department. Then you had that fancyman Todd Turner who wanted to turn UW into I don't know exactly what? Made two terrible hires, and one good one. The dude was a gutless turd. That has nothing to do with sanctions.

Fact is, UW football is always going to be in a fight with the admin up on the hill, it slayed them once when they buried the program in 92 after forcing out Mike Lude, and I'm sure it will happen again.

That's the recent history, a flurry of missteps that happened in house, not just the big bad Pac-10 eating its own.

And I'll happily remain a Coug fan, in good times (seldom) and bad (more often).

I guess that's a big difference between Cougs and Pooches: Honks tend to be a bit fair-weathered. Until recently, a lot of that purple-and-pee gear has been sittin' in the back of the closet...next to the Star Trek and cosplay outfits. I guess, when most of your fans are "geographical alums" (as opposed to real ones), that comes w/the territory.

Of course, a few of the guys around here have other team's jerseys in hiding...

UW was sanctioned again in 2004, fired Slick Rick, and had another piss poor year of football with Jim at the helm. I am sure that looked like a great place for parents to send their kids to go to school and play football, right?

Yeah I am going with "No" on that one...

Here we are in 2013 and it finally looks like the dark days are well behind UW and they are on their way to getting back to winning traditions.

On the topic of bandwagon, that isn't me. I was born a Dawg, and I graduate from UW in 2015.

I didn't go to college, but my family is all dawg fans, I had no choice in the matter. Same goes for any other Seattle based sports team that was around before 1988, aside from the mariners, I drop out of that last season.

Maybe I am a fairweather, limp-wrister when it comes to football? I mean, I root for the Dawgs, but also the Cougs? I'll pull for the team with most bowl potential in the apple cup.

Tough to admit...

But, I still hate Oregon.

Hypothetical: Oregon vs Alabama for the National title. Who are you rooting for?

Alabama. I cant do it, J, I just cant.

Any other Pac-12 team, Pac-12, all the way. But, NOT Oregon.

You'll get your title this year.

That surprises me PE. I figured you'd pull for the Pac. Throwdown pulling for Bama doesn't surprise me though, clearly he has no pride in his region and probably secretly wears Oklahoma city pajamas to bed every night.

I just cant with Oregon. I just cant. There's a physical and emotional block there, I just cant.

Think you seeing a naked woman, Roland an unexplained joke, a 49er fan a NFL-related post, Absolute a meal, etc.

I don't think there is anything I hate with the same passion as UW fans hate Oregon.

So like you and making an actual funny joke?

Just curious, does that extend to Oregon basketball as well? Because of Oregon fan? Or is it strictly Oregon football?

Not basketball.

If you recall I had to explain to you that the Ducks make noise in '13 tourney.

That hurts, you know? I don't root for the Cougs, or Beavers either.

For basketball I do break out of the mold a bit and root for Seattle U, except when they play UW.

Gonzaga can suck it though.
