Do you really disagree with him on this? I'm not just posting this to argue; I'm honestly curious, too. If you do disagree, then explain why, if you don't mind.

because they are law students, they know damn well what would have happened had one of them cold cocked the guy.

**edit** I have no idea who Dori Monson is so I can't speak to that

Didn't click on your link, sorry. As for someone at one time that claimed to not listen to the guy, you sure seem to listen to him quite a lot! He is a extreme propagandist and right wing tool and oxygen thief, sorry if that hurts your feelings..... Ok actually I'm not sorry! :)

I disagree with him. One incident doesn't prove a thing, and violent crime stats in the US prove nothing if they don't prove there is no shortage of men in America willing to resort to violence at the drop of a hat, so no, America isn't wussy-fied. Perhaps a law school lecture room isn't the best place to look for machisimo.

Screw him! Why does the onus fall upon the male students to get physical?

From what I saw, this guy didn't threaten anyone's life or property. What were they supposed to stop?....this guy interrupting class? Ooooo, that's a good a reason to risk your life and/or financial future. The reward/risk angle is through the roof.

It's soooooo easy to tell the next guy, "hey you should have..."

I disagree with him. I don't disagree that 3-4 people could have probably taken this guy down, but this definitely proves nothing.

And this is a perfect example of what I don't like about Dori Monson. He takes a very particular and unique situation, blows it way out of proportion, makes a ton of assumptions, makes a case that's hard to argue against because of it's broadness and simplicity, and then goes "this is what's wrong with America" or "liberals" etc... putting the word men in quotations? Like if you're not willing to tackle a strange person in a confusing situation you're not a real man? GTFOH.

This is a weird, random occurrence. We have no idea what type of people are in this classroom, other than they're college students studying law. If this room was full of football players or weightlifters it's a pretty safe bet Mr. Monson doesn't have his little microcosm to bitch about.

I just don't like his name. Dori. What is that? Is it short for Dorian? I've never met a Dorian that I liked. Also, 'Monson' is awfully close to 'Munson', and I think we all know the implications of having THAT surname....

Never heard of the guy. But he's right - we are a bunch of wusses, even as we know damn well not a soul was going to touch the dude in that environment. They all know the legal odds.

You'd like him, he's your typical teabagger!

I still don't get the 'teabagger' thing. I mean, in the act of teabagging, would the 'teabagger' be the one administering the teabagging from a position of dominance? How is that insulting?

You're remembering what you want to remember, not what I actually said. I rarely listen to him because he's on during the early afternoon and I'm on the phone a lot for my job; I do, however, see stuff that gets posted from his page on Facebook.

Also, for those of you saying nothing should have been done, many of the students were quoted as thinking their lives were in danger at the time. So, if you think your life's in danger...Yeah, just sit and do nothing. Good call. I'm kind of surprised by how many passive reactions there are here. Either way, why just sit and let a crazy homeless man disrupt class? That seems very strange to me. What's the professor thinking? Gee, if I speak louder, maybe he'll go away and the students will hear me and not be distracted?

If this guy had happened to pull a knife and stab a few students, you'd be wondering why nobody did anything, and that makes you hypocrites. The fact that he ended up not having a weapon is drastically changing what you think the students should or should not have done. When you don't know the circumstances, you should play it safely. Also, what in the WORLD makes you think the students would have any legal repercussions against restraining a trespasser while waiting for security to arrive? Give me a break. Also, if you want to pull the "legal ramifications" card, imagine the ramifications if he killed someone and nobody had attempted to stop him. Hell of a lot more complicated than restraining him.

I dare say I wouldn't want to be in a potentially dangerous scenario with anyone that has posted in this thread except for Sailor.

I'm mildly ashamed and depressed, reading the replies in here; but hey, it's a good thing half the law students managed to film it. Maybe they would have felt better watching it in the comfort of their homes over and over had he shot one of their classmates in the head.

I'd have your back, mate. But in fairness, you should know I can run faster than you if it comes down to that.

Unfair to talk about Roland's weight like that, Kip.

Don't shoot me in the knee like a certain character did on The Walking Dead so you can get away easily, and we're all good.

LOL! I'm sure if some nutcase came charging into your place of business, you would be the first to physically confront the guy.

Whether it's stupid depends largely on the circumstances presented at the time someone enters the building. If I see someone enter holding a gun, I'm going to look for cover unless they're right near me, in which case I'd probably assault them. I'm not trying to be some macho bad-ass here; I'm not one, though I did take several years of aikido when I was in junior high. However, I've been shot once in my life already, and I don't care to be shot again; and I'll be damned if some depressed piece of shit that can't handle whatever's happening in their life is going to put me in a casket without a fight.
