I don't get it...are they saying that 4/5ths of the world consider themselves Christian since the inception of Christianity in the early A.D.? Is that supposed to be a representation of the current US profile? Seems to be a rather ill conceived point.

I am pretty confident if you asked any run of the mill, average joe/jane whom considered themselves to be Christian 'What is the most persecuted/oppressed religion over the last 2,000 years?" The vast majority would say the Jewish religion.

Yes, I think this is a good discussion. It kinda started off with a sarcastic graph, but Christianity has many martyrs. Some estimates have as many as 200 million Christian martyrs from the Catholic Religion. Many say that the Pope and the Catholic Faith is Christian, if so, why did they kill so many Christian and Jewish brothers. They had huge arenas where the fed Christians to wild animals...Many Catholics came to watch the death of believers.....As recent as Columbine, the shooters asked if you are believer, than executed them.

"270 new Christian martyrs every 24 hours and one million Christian martyrs in the first decade of the 21st Century." http://creedalchristian.blogspot.com/20 ... rtyrs.html

I didn't have alot of time to post, so didn't do alot of fact checks, but it is safe to say that Christian believers are targeted by many. The Pilgrims risked their lives to move to America, so they could practice their faith without the fear of the Pope's death squads.

Do you know what Catholic means, or any history of the Catholic Church? They formed as the one "true" branch of Christians from the Apostolic lines. You know, those Apostles that followed Jesus around, they taught more apostles to keep their stories straight and pure, thus they could claim they were the one true branch of Christianity. Catholics murdered gnostics that they believed were bastardizing their branch of the true Christian faith, along with Muslims and other non-believers. I'm not Catholic, you just appear to not know your history.

In Ancient Rome when Hellenism was popular, the idea of a single God having a son was very hard to believe and early Christians were oppressed. But now as a religion, Christianity has by far the most representation in the U.S. And remember, no one can be represented 100 percent of the time, but I brought my family to the local Santa parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony (2 separate events), there's even a nativity scene in front of the local library. I am unaware of any local events representing Jews, Muslims, Hindus, or any other religion. If they are even out there, they are not represented to a comparable degree as Christianity.

Doesn't Catholic mean Universal? Catholics merged paganism and the Christian faith, notice all the idol worship? I encourage you to read the Foxe book of Martyrs, might have a different opinion than. Also, Christmas is a Catholic Holiday, it's only been commercialized in the U.S.. At one time Christmas was banned in early America due to it's Catholic roots. Christmas is short for Christ Mass, a mass is a Catholic service. Catholics have stripped almost all Biblical truth from the Christian faith. Most real scholars don't believe that Jesus was born on December 25th, please do some research. Jeremiah says this,

Jer 10:1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

This looks like a warning for Christmas trees, don't be a heathen. Anyways, believe what you want, but you have to pretty ignorant not to know that Catholics murdered millions of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and non believers. Many people believe the Pope is the anti-christ or the false prophet. Christianity is a Jewish faith, believe it or not...Catholics don't recognize any of the Jewish Holidays and they even changed the Sabbath to Sunday....Because, they worshipped the Sun back in the day....Remember the pagan merger thing...?

Your beliefs seem to immulate that of the Baptists and clearly are taking a liberal interpretation of Scripture literally. I don't see things similarly.

To me, Catholicism was corrupted by politics, I do not think that their religious symbolism is idol worship though.

Me, a heathen? Let's not cast any stones, Mike.

Catholicism is political in nature, I'm pretty sure the Vatican country or where the Pope lives he has his own government. Seriously, check it out. Mr. Adolf Hitler and the pope had an agreement, called a concordat. Anyways, believe what you want, it's not like I was really eager to share some kick ass facts, but not everyone is amped on truth. Just learning the real Sabbath day got me amped, and that is far from the Baptist faith. Every Baptish Church I have been to meets on Sunday, I have visited many Churches (not a Baptist.) Good guess! I talked about the Passover Meal on Easter week and was asked to leave the Baptist Church. :-)

I've been to Vatican City. It's aesthetically beautiful, no one can argue that.

Let me guess... Seventh Day Adventist?

860,000 Lives Saved - The Truth About Pius XII and the Jews

As far as moving the Sabbath to Sunday, every major organized Christian religion that I know of, except 7th Day Adventist meets on Sunday. So what's your point there?

You should also know that the pilgrims came to America after the Protestant religion had been declared the official church of England. I doubt the pope would have focused his "death squads" on the pilgrims.

Yes, I am Catholic. Confirmed on top of that. I will be the first to admit that my religion has a tarnished past. But dude, really? If the Pope is the anti christ, then which one was/is?

As far as your reference to Jesus being born on December 25th, the Pope just released a book acknowledging that.

Christianity: something people grasp to because they can't handle living with the fear of physical death, and they want desperately to believe that some part of you lives on after the body dies.

Christianity: something people bash because they've been raised in an environment that does so, and they reflexively reject anything that would require them to surrender control of their own lives and decisions.

See? Two can play that game. ;)
