The Christlike Christians just aren't the type to generate headlines. Probably so, I'd be inclined to agree. While not a "Christian" myself, I find little fault with what is printed in red in the scripture (in bibles where it is in red), and I realize nobody could come even close to the ideals within, but so many of them seem to be actively and visibly fighting against those teaching in his name IMHO.

Conservative southerners are all dumb, it's just that more of em are white than any other color. Hell you guys want to teach moronic design over science, you've earned the insult, many times over. The worst part though is that I'm not talking "dumb" as in lacking in intelligence. These are otherwise intelligent and capable people who CHOOSE idiocy over knowledge. Homosexuality of course is a choice, that's why so many Pentecostal leaders and evangelicals get caught having gay sex right? The devil made em do it! Of course denying climate change and the need for regulation in industry, now that's true intelligence, liberalism is a disease we need to study and eradicate. BTW, I'm white as anybody, but I have been able to overcome it largely.

4Life is correct, i live in the south and people still do not believe in evolution. Look at Rick Perry Haha.
For example, a conservative guy i work with. He told me he benefits from a clinic that is "Free" for people who make certain amount of money. It is essentially a public hospital but for poor people but it is privately funded by a larger hospital in the city. I asked him "Is Obama a socialist?", he said "yes". Then i asked him "You go to a "free" hospital, why shouldnt other people benefit from a health care system like you have", he replied "There are some things in life that you just can not explain" -__-.
He is very christian and I asked him about Christianity in policies. I asked "Why should a nation founded on freedom of religion be forcing people who do not believe in Christianity their beliefs", his reply "I dont know".

So where are all the people who deride the more conservative posters about generalizing? C'mon guys don't be such hypocrites. This thread is so full of generalities that you should have a heyday.

I really don't understand the point of the continued discussion in this thread.
Yes, racist southerners often are able to align their "morals" with those of the republican party. The republican party doesn't care about black people. It also doesn't care about white people. The point of the party is not to "care" about people, it's to try and create an environment where business thrives, and where government has little control over that (and just for shits in giggles, stay out of personal doings unless it's gay people). There thought is that if business thrives then therefore people will.
That being said, the majority of racists are part of conservative political ideologies even though in reality these parties have little care about hating anyone.
Being a southerner and republican does not mean you are racist. Being racist does.

I also made it clear that I meant ignorant as a choice and not necessarily as a slam on their intelligence. I am sure some of them are actually of low IQ, and some of high IQ, most of average IQ, but if you refuse to believe in even the possibility that man has an effect on climate, if you believe abstinence only education works, and if you believe that being gay is a choice and it can just be "prayed away" you are in fact an idiot, be it by choice or because you are actually incapable of grasping the concepts, it matters not.
Believing things contrary to available evidence is stupidity plain and simple. Stupidity comes in many forms, but most of it in this case is willful if not conscious.

Doesn't matter if it's choices or intelligence that you meant. My point is that you are generalizing across an entire group. Something which many of those from this board on the left, will quickly slam anyone on the right for doing when they speak on the issues and don't make a disclaimer along with it. While when someone says something with which they tend to agree, they let it go, because in fact they don't truly care about the generalization, they are just using that as an excuse to avoid discussing the actual topic. I was merely using you as an example of this

I was merely using you as an example of this Santorum was looking like the GOP ticket until he had family issues. I dont think anyone could deny he uses the bible to make political decisions. After all he says things like "Obamas agenda is not based on the bible".... Its easy to see how a entire party voting for this man wouldn't believe in something like evolution just like the one they are voting. Besides republicans generalize also, after all we are the food stamps party.

Besides republicans generalize also, after all we are the food stamps party. First of all, he ran, but he didn't get the nomination, so obviously the "whole party" didn't agree with him, so that generalization is a failure. second, I didn't say nobody should generalize. My point was that on NUMEROUS occasions several left leaning members of THIS forum have used the fact that someone made a generalization to refute their post, saying that by making the generalization, it shows they don't know what they are talking about (or something to that effect). I think there are generalizations that can be made in this world, especially when you are trying to illustrate a point in a forum such as this. My secondary point was that for only calling out generalizations of those with whom they disagree, they are being completely hypocritical. Again, not bashing generalizations, as I believe they help make a point. Just pointing out that some here have said that you ought not generalize, but htey get really quiet when someone they agree with does it. That is all

I think we're talking about two different things. Kidhawk is right, you can't generalize every single person in the R party as having the exact same beliefs. However, I think the point 4Life and AXX are making that the party platform suggests these beliefs. Whether or not individually each and everyone has those is certainly unlikely to be true.
