Prayers and positive vibes please.

  • For the family of David Ogletree, my 62 y/o brother in law.
Fell into the lake and drown. Either late last night or early this morning.
He had set up camp last night so that his son and grandson could meet up with him today. They had a two day camp out planed for Father's Day. His son (my nephew) and grand son showed up to find his truck, camper and fishing poles on the bank. They spent an hour or so looking for him.
My wife and I and most of the family that lives local were on scene when the game warden and search/rescue pulled his body from the lake, 30 feet from his poles. At this time nobody knows what happened.
David had a very unsteady gait due to being electrocuted several years ago, it's presumed he just fell into the water and drowned.
His wife, my wife's sister is also disabled and they lived a simple life on a fixed income. David loved to fish and camp. Him and I spent many hours with a line in the water.
I will miss him, as will the rest of the family.
Any way, your prayers or whatever you believe in, directed to his family will be greatly appreciated by me.
    Thanks .net.

    R.I.P. David.

  • My condolences to you, your wife and the family for this tragic loss. I hope from this tragedy quick healing and strengthening of the family bond. To lose anyone hurts but to lose them quickly, without warning will make the pain even more agonizing. Be strong for your family and my thoughts are with you all.

R.I.P. David Ogletree, I never knew you but join in with others in regretting your loss.

  • Again, thanks guys.

I can't tell you how many fish David lost because I wouldn't tell him he was getting a bite.
If he had his back to his pole and got a bite, I wouldn't say anything because I hated to see him run to his pole.
He got electrocuted 18 years ago. The electricity blew up his feet and burnt his spine. This caused him to be very unsteady on his feet. He had trouble stepping over a 6 inch log.
He loved to hunt, fish and camp. Would go alone most of the time.
At least he went doing something he loved and didn't spend 6 months fighting an illness.

  • Damn. Sorry to learn of your loss, Pmed. I only now opened this thread or would have been more considerate of the situation before starting my thread about the near drowning we witnessed yesterday. I've almost drown 3 times so I'm very sensitive to such things. I hope only the best for you and your family and may your brother in law rest in peace.

  • Thanks so much, y'all.
    We had the memorial today.
David's wife and immediate family carried his ashes ( in a tackle box) back to the camp site and all the grand kids let balloons go and sprinkled his ashes in the lake.
Red neck? Yea definitely. But very fitting, in this case.
