  • yeah we're all high elves down here in between basketball seasons. I'd blame the shit in the water but it's more likely simply because everybody who lives down here is physically and mentally inferior to the almighty Washingtonians.

  • I wish y'all could spend a couple of shifts riding along with me.
I see stuff like this and much crazier on a fairly regular basis.
We have it down to a science. Cops taze em, hold em down, i "snow" em with meds, off we go to the local ER.
Not every day but it's common. Unless they tell us, we don't even know what they are on. Usually a mix of crap.
The worst are the ones that strip naked and rub their own feces all over them selves. Yes they do.
Usually ex prison inmates. They know it makes em hard to hold on to. Funny to watch the badass cops puke from the poop.

    Yep.
Another example of why Oregon totally sucks......I'm riding US Highway 95 yesterday from Winnemucca, Nevada to Lewiston Idaho. In case you don't know, there's a VERY remote stretch of that highway that travels through Southeastern Oregon. So remote that there's only one small town in the entire 170 or so miles and the road is generally straight most of those miles since it's a freaking desert.....so, speed limit in Nevada on same road, 70 MPH, speed limit in Idaho, 65 MPH, Oregon? 55 MPH. Thank you for sucking as usual Oregon.

  • I like the area of Bend and Sisters and a few areas around there. Went to Coos bay a few weeks ago. Did not have time to stop off and see the relatives as I got there late. but I did stay in Reedsport for the night. Had some work to do in Prineville and a visit with an old friend too. Did half of the McKenzie river bike ride trail but that was years ago when I was in so so shape. Now not so much. I was not anywhere near ready to ride it. Went to Petes trails too in that area. nice area for bikes and mixed brews. I have been in Portland proper a few times. Some of the time it is interesting.....

Like I said, not a fan of Portland but am a fan of Oregon's ocean beaches. Like anywhere else, Oregon has it's armpits, but every state does. Lots of places here in Washington that are armpits as well.

Sorry, I don't discuss politics with people, especially on this forum. Take it to the PWR. It doesn't belong here.
Oh, and no matter what you say Oregon sucks. Beautiful state as is Washington, but their endless attempts to try to make the rest of the world conform to their way of doing things instead of adjusting to the rest of the USA is so very tiresome. Speed limits are but one example.

Besides, there is a high number of Whiner fans in Portland, probably in the 35-40% range. "Nuff said.

I have an uncle who lives on the south side of the Prineville Reservoir. We camped at the state park a couple years ago. It's crazy, you can almost see his place from across the lake, yet it's like a 3 hour round trip drive around the lake to visit. Really cool landscape & terrain out there. I'm sure hawksfansinceday1 would hate it.

  • I took a wrong turn...WRONG TURN..and went around that reservoir. I had a bit of weight on the vehicle and ended up in the wrong side of the area. There was a route out of there but it was closed for the following 2 weeks. I was up there early in the year. I met some of the most fantastic people in the world there tho. The person I got my tractor loader from came from my area here. I kinda like that area for a camping site and fishing would be great in that area. Prineville...the diner downtown was great both times...good people and great food.

  • Route 27 up there, one of the only stretches of highway in the state that's unpaved, or so I've been told. We were up there in a pickup with an empty bed sliding and bouncing all over the damn road. Definitely a bit unnerving for a city slicker like myself hahaha.

I have some pretty good pictures of the area around here somewhere. I'd post em but I wouldn't want to ruin hawksfansinceday1's day or anything like that.

I saw what I call snake movement in the grasses here on my property. I figure it is a bullsnake. I get them here. On the golfcourse there was a gartersnake that was not doing too well.......someone found its head. They were concerned...I ran around rattlers...I am not concerned no more. A damm dog tho.....I may get angry...and there may be problems. I have been bit on the FACE and ON MY LEG too many times.

I have some pretty good pictures of the area around here somewhere. I'd post em but I wouldn't want to ruin hawksfansinceday1's day or anything like that.

    Still a great area.

If you don't discuss politics with people, especially on this forum, then how would I know that you refused to come to Portland to watch a game with fellow .netters because you can't stand "liberals". Yeah, that's some steadfast no politics policy.

Apparently you have me mixed up with someone else. I never refused to go watch a game with anyone. The only time I've been at a get together with fellow Netters was up in Longview for the first game of Wilson's rookie season vs. the Cards. Lots of nice people there (Rockhawk and his Mrs., Muxpux, DJToy, etc.), but I'm not real fond of watching Hawks games in bars because of the noise and distractions. No idea what you're even talking about.

As for the Adams thing, it was just a way of saying there's liberal Oregon politicians just like Locke and Gregiore in Washington. How does that make me "delusional"?
And um no, I'm not worried he's going to bang my wife since my wife is female and he's not attracted to that gender. Sigh.

But seriously, attack on dude. I can handle it, particularly since it's not one bit based on any fact.

  • I have lots of reasons to be "mad at" Oregon. The one I referred to is this road being 55 MPH....pathetic, stupid and typical of your state. . Image
I mean this road has the same maximum speed as Highway 30 between Scappoose and Portland, St. Helens and Scappoose and that is a VERY heavily traveled road with a very high volume of traffic. Make sense? Not to me. To me it's just making travelers on US 95 in REMOTE southeastern Oregon bow to the will of the state of Oregon.
Another example along these lines....I-84 in non-metropolitan areas with its 65 MPH speed limit while Interstates in WA it's 70, Idaho is 75, etc. Really? Is it safer to drive 65 between say Boardman and The Dalles than it would be to drive 70? Um, no.

Me thinks you're being rather defensive about your state especially considering I made it abundently clear that I was not the person you thought I was and you just shifted gears without so much as a mention of that.

Oregon, like WA, NoCal, most of Idaho and Western MT is a very beautiful state. The NW is the best, when the weather is good. However, I do not care for the attitudes/outlook/approach of Oregonaians and that will not change. Speed limits are but one example.

In my experience, approximately 35% of people in greater metro Portland that root for an NFL team root for the San Francisco 49ers. 'Nuff said.

  • The speed limit's 5-10 MPH lower than it is in WA & ID? Holy shit dude. I get it now. That's terrible. I can't believe you've had to suffer that for all these years. Allow me, on behalf of the state of Oregon and all Oregonians, in all of our collective inferiority, formally apologize for the massive, traumatic, life altering, inhumane, can't-believe-it's-even-legal way you've been treated. I can't even imagine what you've had to go through. I will do whatever I have to do, anything in my power, to get this terrible injustice corrected. I'll write up a bill. I'll call my senator. Hell, I'll run for office. I'll get this fixed for you man.

    DAMN YOU OREGON!! DAMMNNNNN YOUUUUU!!!!!

And you are exactly the person I think you are. You've stated all the exact same reasons. You didn't want to come to Portland to watch a game because of all the liberals and 49ers fans. Those were more or less your exact words. You've even just said virtually the same now, you just won't mention the liberals because you "don't talk politics" which I imagine is because whenever you do so around anybody but your group of equally intolerant, bigoted friends you get railed for it. And rightfully so.

So you hate Oregon and Oregonians. That's fine. You're allowed to have a shitty, uninformed, stereotyping opinion based on virtually nothing. Just do us all a favor and the next time we decide to talk about something you know you have no interest in just go ahead and stay the hell out of the discussion. Have fun drinking Budweiser and watching Duck Dynasty in Vancouver, yokel.

  • Portland suffers from more mental illness than any other city in America. It also has more sexual offenders per capita than any other city in America as well as the largest problem of human trafficing per capita in America. The idea of this utopian liberal city is a complete lie. The line between individuality and mental illness is so grayed that people don't really think much of it when they see a guy running down the mall with an AR-15. "It's Portland", a girl said. "You always see something weird."

    BUT

It IS an adult playground. I like that I don't live in Portland and that I don't have to raise my kids there, but I do like living next to it. The food scene is comparable to SEA and SF. It's only rival in Microbrews is it's neighbors to the north in SEA (And no, no Euro crap beer even comes close). There are plenty of things to do in pretty much any genre of thing you want and if you haven't been to a Miss Nude Oregon contest you're really missing out.

As far as politics goes, I'm not left or right, a political crip or political blood. I leave that for the sheeple.

    BUT

Oregon has been extremely fiscally irresponsible for quite some time and the dept keeps piling on. For a state that has much the same resources and exports as Washington they just haven't done a very good job of managing it. However, Portland politicians have generally listened to what the people want and that's an outstanding opportunity for democracy. There is a downside though. For instance, a group of people were marching around Portland about a light pole that was in the way of bike riders on the Burnside bridge. The city did something about it and it cost the city roughly $18K. At that same time there were two schools threatened to be shut down without the sum of about $60K. The situation came up fiscally short and the schools were indeed closed. Which was more important? Sure, the $18K wouldn't have paid the full sum, but it would have helped. Portland is the single most extreme left place I've ever seen. The general consensus with those that are that extreme in the spectrum is that if your voice is heard loud enough you can make things happen and that's true, but what escapes that spoiled brat croud is that money is finite.

Portland and I have a love hate relationship. It's a great, great place for adults to go a play, but if you have children and actually love them then Portland is a place you keep at bay until they themselves become adults.

Also, for those who seem to be confused, Portland is not Oregon. Portland is IN Oregon, obviously, and is Oregon's most populace city, but the vast majority of Oregonians outside of Portland are really not like Portlandians. Hence why Oregon has yet to be able to pass laws such as gay marriage and MJ legalization. That will likely change soon though, as it should.

  • Portland's local government is a shit show, but that's part of what makes it fun. You never know what kind of bat shit crazy scheme these fools are gonna come up with. It usually ends up in a train wreck wasting a bunch of money but ultimately people aren't generally negatively affected, it's just some shit that only worked half way and now we get to joke about it. But let's be honest, Seattle's local government isn't all that different. But at least they're trying and I think that's fun. :Dunno:

As far as schools go, there have definitely been some big problems, but it mostly depends on where you go. Portland's government is historically pretty racist, so the schools in North and North East Portland are generally the worst. But if you live in the West Hills or in South West there's a pretty good schooling system.

I think the general consensus from people who have actually done it is that Portland is a pretty good place to have kids and raise a family. Google it, you'll see. Of course everybody's different and yes, Portland is a pretty liberal city, lifestyle-wise, so if you're not into that then it's probably not for you. (home gardening, healthy foods, recycling, co-op grocery, religious and sexual freedom OMG IT'S AWFUL :sarcasm_on: )

But like vin said, Portland is NOT Oregon. And if you think you HATE Oregon, you're probably an idiot because you've probably experienced about 1% of Oregon.

  • Did you know: Portland has the highest number of breweries of any single city in the world (not counting suburbs)? If you count McMenamins brand, of which most have their own brewer, it's close to the 80 range. If not, the number's still around 50.

Edit: By the way, Portland is also now the 1st city in the United States where craft beer is the majority seller. Bud, Miller, and Coors have nothin' on us.

Seattle's not even in the same ballpark.
