Insanity Workout Or P90X?

  • Wife and I are looking to tighten things up a bit, don't want to do the gym thing anymore. I'm very much a workout outdoors kind of person, but this time of year the weather is an insufferable rainy bitch.

So, has anybody tried either one of these? Preferences?

  • doesn't really matter as long as you do either of them. From what i hear Insanity is overall better but you should do just fine with P90X.
They are both High Intensity Interval training which has been proven scientifically as the best fat reduction type of exercise.

  • Just stick with whichever program you choose and keep your diet in check. You will never outwork a poor diet, so that should be your focus. If you just want to lose fat, it doesn't matter what kind of training you do as long as you get your heart moving for at least 30 mins and be honest about challenging yourself.

My advice: Pick the one you are most likely to stay on track with.

Weight loss is 75% diet and 25% working out

For sure, I lost 40 lbs with just diet, and for the remaining 15-20 lbs I just added some simple exercises and it came off easy enough. If you eat breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up (2-3 organic egg scramble no cheese or toast) you'll have a great head start on losing weight without very many other changes, that was how I started.

  • I've done both. P90X, requires more equipment up front. Pull up bar, weights, bands etc. I agree though, either one works great as long as you stick to it. I enjoyed Insanity just because it seemed a lot more natural over all. But the Yoga from P90X is great.

  • Insanity is literally insane. Wife and I didn't get through the entire video until about week and a half in. Burns your calves to death.
I enjoy ruining threads by making them about personal attacks and then commenting about how personal attacks make the other person's argument invalid.

  • Make sure you go at a pace where you can finish the workouts.
I also agree with not being able to out train a lousy diet.
Another misconception is that you can lose weight and build muscle, its impossible.
There are alot of great articles on muscleandstrength.com
