  • The excitement is contained up to this point. Is it because of Pitt?

  • The book was excellent. I'll definatly go see the movie although i'm a bit worried that it might suck. I generally like Brad Pitt movies but the fact that this movie kept getting rewritten, pushed back and pushed back some more makes me nervous.

    Hopefully it will be good.

  • Everything I've read the movie has been a mess. Heard it was $200 million over budget, had refilms, and rewrites, and I guess they got raided by the police in Budapest. If they are bringing people in to rewrite the ending of the movie... at the end of the movie?

I hope they pull it off, looks cool, but we'll see.

  • I enjoyed the book. I love Brad. Movie kinda looks way overboard (and obviously quite detached from the story in the book). I'll see it but I'm not going in with super high expectations.

  • Meh. The zombies in a zombie apocalypse should be gory, scary undead monsters not a shapeless, blurry CGI blob.

  • People are complaining about remakes and we have a movie that isn't a remake and it is being criticized before it even screens?

Does everyone always have a negative until proven positive attitude over practically everything?

  • Didn't they make them "fast zombies" in the movie? They weren't that in the book. That kind of messes it up for me. I still want to see it, but I'll wait for the DVD.

Slow moving zombies are much scarier to me.

They aren't even fast zombies like we saw in 28 Weeks Later or Dawn of the Dead(2004) these things look like swarming ants or a tsunami or something. They made their own zombie category imho.

Your statement kind of reminds me of Starship Troopers. The book was cool. The (first) movie did it justice like total recall did...I've never read the book of wwz; but the commercials look cool! I think BP is a pretty good actor too.

You are asking this on a Seahawks board where we aren't allowed to celebrate a win in the first half of the season because the team 'hasn't proved anything'?

I dunno, I thought it was pretty intense and far from boring. I'm pretty easily entertained though.

  • I don't mind rewrites. I'm just pensive about the fact that this particular movie's rewrites were by Damon Lindelof.

  • I haven't read the book, so I don't care about that. The movie was decent. Plenty of Zombie tropes, but a few somewhat original things in there, too. Pitt was good, although his character should have died several times. the story was good, and the action was frantic at times. I liked it. A good popcorn movie. Sort of a cross between Contagion and 28 days later.

It's worth the rental I thought. Watched it the other day here on the boat.

It was silly but was refreshing in that it was a different twist on the whole zombie thing.

  • Seen it twice... Once by myself and the second time with the girl friend.

My only bit of advice with this show is don't pay extra to see it in 3D.
Harbaugh is a lunatic and he'll either die on the sideline while trying to challenge the coin toss, or get into a filthy divorce from the 49ers that will end up with him getting $27 million a year from Michigan to fist fight the entire state of Ohio.

  • I went in with somewhat low expectations, trying to be fair because I knew it wouldn't be able to follow the source material too closely. Still largely disappointed. It's not bad, though Brad Pitt reached levels of ridiculously unlucky/lucky. Stumbling upon Jerusalem on THAT day, catching THAT plane, etc.

I didn't hate it, but disappointed we won't get geopolitical thriller version of the actual book.

My kid: "I didn't actually read the book."
    Me: "Neither did the screenwriters."
