I think Herfy's is really underrated. I love the Herfy's in Georgetown. Great place to get a burger and fries. They have great fry sauce too.

There's a Bob's in Kennewick too, south end of town by the new High School (Southridge). I've eaten there several times on my way back home to Vancouver from visiting family in Spokane. Pretty damned good indeed.

Wow. Herfy's. Haven't heard that name in awhile. I used to work at the one on Elliot Ave between Queen Anne and Magnolia back in high school. I don't believe it's there anymore, fact, I didn't think they even existed anymore. I always thought they had some really good burgers. Half priced employee meals. Oh man, the perks of working in the fast food industry 8)

There was a tavern on the north side of queen anne by the Fremont bridge that was known for it's burgers, 310 tavern i think it was called, yeah they were damn tasty.

A Super Mother from the Tav in Ellensburg are worth the stop if your passing through.

There was a place like that in Cali I went to once and I just thought it was too many options. You would have to eat there too many times before you dialed in the correct sequence. I think thsts why In & Out is so popular. Its simple and pretty close to perfect.

5 guys does indeed make some righteous french fries. The peanut oil makes all the difference. And it is a very tasty burger.

If we are talking french fries 5 guys would be on the list, but as far as a burger, not spectacular. You can't put all the crap you want on a burger, but whats required is a nice good flavored juicy beef pattie, reasonably thick but not too thick, the bun has to be just right, its a combination.. Look at XXX in Issaquah, great ambiance, great shakes, giant burgers, but its all toppings and no meat, thats not a burger, thats a mess.

I believe he's referring to the Char Burger in Cascade Locks, Oregon folks. IIRC there's one in Hood River too.

That looks delicious DJ. I ride out that way a lot. Will have to stop in and try one.

Living in SoCal, I've grown up on In N' Out and I'd have to say it's the best fast-food burger I've ever had.

HOWEVER...

The best burger I've ever had was the one at Father's Office in LA (Culver City for you locals).

We usually stop at Char Burger any time we head up the gorge. It's been a few years though. Heading in that direction in about a month to go to Yellowstone, so we'll definatly be stopping by. Good grub indeed.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned "Frugals".

That place makes a killer bacon cheese.......
But I will also give a nod to the Herfy's. If you can find one that's kind of like a Ma and Pa Herfey's, they make a ridiculously good burger.
There is one in Fife, a little hole in the wall place. Fries and burgers there are off the charts.

But for the best freakin fast food burger, Frugal's all the way.

Yea, I work just down the road from the one in Fife......
I'm on a quest to lose weight though. I'm down 17 lbs and need to lose 5 more to be in the 170's for the first time in forever.
The Herfy's temptation is killing me. PLUS i drive by a Frugals on the way home......oh man the temptation.

Wanted to tell you that I have tried 5 Guys and Fat Burger just from some of you mentioning them.

Thought neither was up to McDs Quarter Pounder with cheese. Yes I thought they were both that average. And to add insult to injury they make you wait forever, charge you more, and give you perhaps adaquate service and barely that.

I completely agree about Five Guys. In regards to service; the guy behind the counter kept pimping the burgers as "the best burger ever." After waiting so long for the food the spiel wore thin quickly. Decent but, nowhere near best burger ever.

I have a fondness for Hudson's Hamburgers in Coeur'D'alene Idaho. Simple, inexpensive and delicious. Burgers are made to order and cooked right in front of you.

My Father (67) loves the Thrifty Scotsman. I guess I missed the boat. We were on a job in the Valley and my dad insisted on the "Thrifty" Day after day. Old decor, greasy surroundings. Decent food but, appalling atmosphere.

If you're in the Spokane Valley, go to the Big "R" better value, better price. Oh yeah. Better food.

I want to go there everyday and work my way through the menu. I'll be about 300 pounds after that but I don't care!

My kid had the grilled cheese, unreal. My wife had this salad, with chicken. Seems simple enough, but the chicken was like FRIED chicken, that they cut up and put on the salad. So good.

I've had the poutine off the truck, was amazing. I went into a food coma after that.

I'll have to try the biscuits and gravy next, I'm a sucker for biscuits and gravy. Speaking of biscuits and gravy, anyone tried the Biscuit Bitch in Seattle? 1st near the market. Check out the menu.

I've lived just about everywhere in the western US- the best burger joints I've ever been to were ALL in Utah. Probably because big chunks of the state never left the 1950s. I kid. Sort of.

I respect Dick's as an experience and as an institution, and the burgers are good, for what they are.

As far as fast food burgers go, Jack In The Box had this double bacon cheeseburger on ciabatta bread I'd always scarf down after working out when I was in college that was just amazing. I'd take that over a Dick's deluxe any day.

Herfy's is good. Used to go to the one in Everett on Friday nights in HS to check out cars and then catch the drags on Boeing highway. 310 is no longer, my Aunty always recollects that bar as she lived in the 'hood in her 20s/30s. It's now Nickerson st pub, decent food tho, I guess.

Hodad's really is good though(the shakes...ohhhh man); and am so glad it was the inspiration for this post, never seen a line like that though! Lots of good OB eats. Bol Weavil (original) was awesome!, dunno how the re-boot is tho. Naty's for Mexican.

My best burger I've ever had was in Vegas at this little restaurant that has 4 tables inside called Sammy's LA Pastrami & Burgers. They have a pretty big menu but I had the Double Chipotle Burger the first time and I can't order anything but that on my visits since then.

This isn't a picture I took but I found this on yelp.

You guys ever hit up the Burger Stop just off the I-5 north of Marysville? The one attached to the Shell station? I try to hit that sucka up every time I come down for a Hawks game or the outlet mall in Tulalip. Only problem though is I don't ever remember what exit it is, then I get distracted and forget to look for it. Then I zoom past it. Then I say "SHIT!" Then I realize there isn't a place to turn around for like 3 miles. Then I make this face: :( Then I buy an underwhelming $15 burger at the stadium...

That Burger Stop burger is a tasty little meat bomb for sure!

Sounds like the place just north of the last Kelso exit. Not sure what kind of station but people stop there from all over. The wife insists we stop there whenever we're in the area.

I'm gonna second the nomination for Fat Smitty's up in Port Townsend area.

It's not just greasy fat-laden crap that could give a healthy man a heart attack. I'm not a fan of the fatty burgers with tons of bacon and sauce.

Fat Smittys use quality local beef, it's fresh and lean, all fresh ingredients including the buns, and its about the best goddam thing in the universe after a 5-day hike through the Olympics. Many a hike through the Hoh or Queets, I find myself daydreaming about a smitty burger and it keeps me slogging through the mud. They even have normal sized burgers for those of us who try to avoid obesity.

According to the internet, this is a Fat Smitty burger. No, no bacon or fat in that! Looks good though.

I think a lot of you favor quantity over quality. What the hell is the point of a burger you can't possibly take an actual bite of? A horse could barely take an actual top-to-bottom bite out of some of these burgers you guys are posting pictures of.

You find a way to take a bite, Ro. There's always a way.

Because I'm hungry, and because everyone else is doing it, here's a pic of my favorite burg from the local burger bar. Simple, quality, old-fashioned, delicious.
