Microsoft Windows 3D Pinball

  • Just remembered this game yesterday. I used to play it all the time back when it came packaged with the Windows Operating Systems (NT, Me, 2000, XP). Then they stopped packaging it with Windows, starting with Vista, which is a real shame. But fortunately, I found a free copy of it online. I tested it with my virus scanner and it is safe.

My high score is currently 4,615,250. Did anyone else use to play this game a lot, or another game? I just love these classic, simple games. They're often more fun than the uber-complex games available today.

  • I can't remember what my high scores used to be, but my current one is probably abysmal in comparison.

  • If you have an Ipad or Android device and want some great pinball action (real tables recreated) for pretty cheap, this is a blast:

    http://www.pinballarcade.com

Note: they have PS3 and xbox versions too but the xbox version is way out of date and the PS3 version is FILLED with bugs that cannot be fixed (something to do with downloadable content not able to be patched via Sony's rules). Don't waste your time with the consoles. PC version coming soon too via Steam.

  • Thanks Trench! I don't think I've ever played a pinball videogame other than MS 3D Pinball, but those look like a lot of fun. I'll check them out.

  • Ahhh fun game indeed, spent plenty of time playing that to kill time. I don't remember what my high score was, but I remember it was in the millions.

They're more fun for casual gamers, yes.

  • I remember this game! I played it a lot. I recall 4 million being a pretty decent score...I don't know if I ever got that high.

  • I spent many hours in computing classes playing that game. There was a time when it was only shipped with Windows NT 4.0. Kept me from falling asleep many times.

    I broke 2 million a couple times, but typically didn't break 600000.

I've noticed that it's really hard to rack up points unless you complete the "missions," which typically include getting the ball to hit certain targets and ramps. Each mission awards 500,000+ points. I've since reached a score of 7,515,000, but I find it's very difficult to get over 4,000,000. You kind of have to get lucky and hope the ball doesn't go straight down the middle. This is a much more complex game than I thought it was.

  • I used to love the hell out of that game. I don't remember my high scores, but I was in solid competition with my family members for awhile. I totally trumped them with my superior skills eventually.

  • Fun pinball game. I think it's called, Space Cadet, because it is a stoner game.

I finally got tired of playing Enemy Territory (Wolfenstein,) so I just ordered Orange Box and Crysis. Playing video games that are 10 years old is easier on the pocket book, and are guaranteed to work on older systems like mine.....XP Pro, 3.4 GHZ Pentium D.

Anyone thinking of switching to MAC? I hear Windows 7 is better than Vista, but MACs are looking better every year...

  • I used to love playing that game. Unfortunately I had to make a decision on where to most waste my time...SpaceCadet or .Net.

    .Net won.
