  • so i have kinda disclosed this on here over the years, but yeah, i custom paint / airbrush and i am taking one of my ol' spare helmets and creating a new paint scheme for it...

obviously i'm a die hard seahawks fan and figured why not tie that into the bike somehow (i ride a red/blk GSXR 600)

this is quick rendition of what i will be creating/painting

so, let the prep work begin...

  • Dude, can't wait to see what you have as the finished product. I am sure it will come out sick.

  • How much did Starburst pay you for product placement?

  • anyhoo, i've gotten all the positive masked off (green tape) and next is to remove the negative stencil (yellow stencil mask used to get the proper alignment/proportions/fitment of the 'Hawk Eye) and clean up all the lines and then it's airbrushing time !!

    Image

5 different colors will be used on this project - gloss black, flat black, bright silver, gunmetal grey, and red - so there is a lot more masking in the future once i start getting the base colors down.... oh and then topping it off with two separate coats of clear. Glossy clear will be laid over everything except where (in the rendering) there is the flat black around the eye area - that will get sealed in a no-gloss clear coat, to give the flat (satin) black a dull/matte look

....next up, comes some fine detail of bright silver, followed by some charcoal grey striping, and then color sanding, then apply gloss clear to everything BUT the satin/flat black (which will be covered by a no-gloss clearcoat), then cut and buff... also thinking of adding a nice "12" to the crown of the helmet too

  • next step, and it's a very tedious one, but more fine color sanding with some 2000grt paper and water on all the edges to eliminate the "sticker" effect and make it all smooth...
