  • Blogged about that today, as well as about Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Ender's Game - three of the movies I'll actually spring to see in a theater this year. It looks good, even as I continue to be scared of the increasingly fakey caricature-esque nature of the series.

  • I don't think I'm looking forward to any movie right now more than I am Ender's Game. So happy they made it happen and it looks good!

  • Ender's Game does look good. I loved the book. I just hope they don't try to make it a franchise...Speaker for the Dead made me want to kill myself. It was TERRIBLE.

I don't see how they could. I think it'd be fantastic to do an Ender's Shadow sequel, but they never will, 'cause it's the same story from a different viewpoint. They're not that creative. And you're right, after the first three books or so, that series takes a spiral downward, to the point where I stopped reading halfway through one of them.

I am excited about the Hobbit, primarily because, well, it's the Hobbit. Still, that barrel-down-the-river scene has me scared. Looks like the stupid falling-but-flying-and-not-getting-hurt fight scene in the goblin underground of the first one. Bleh! I suppose Jackson has to piss away a certain percentage of the movie for the slackjawed denizens of Idiocracy, just so's they can feel they got their popcorn's worth out of the movie.

  • This....looks....TITS!

Yes, I'll be seeing this one. I'll also be seeing Ender's game. And Pacific Rim. If you're not gacked for Pacific Rim, then you don't have a soul.

Pacific Rim looks good, but not only are large Transformer-esque robot machine movies not really my cup 'o tea, I'm really wary of them after stuff like Battleship and uh, the Transformers series. I will watch it, but not in theaters.

If Pacific Rim didn't have Guillermo del Toro attached, I'd be with you. But it's got GdT, so peaches is exactly right. (The latest preview for it also makes it look a lot smarter than Power Rangers Part Deux.)

I'm looking forward to the second part of the Hobbit, but the first was so uneven and the elf characters seem so unnecessary to me at this point (bringing back Legolas feels like fan service), that I'm more than a little leery.

That said, Cumberbund is Smaug and that should make the dragon scenes worth the price of admission.

  • Bringing back Legolas feels a lot like bringing back Chewbacca. Hopefully it's for a better reason than that.

  • *Cumberbatch.

Not sure if you're trolling or not. But incase you're not, It's Cumberbatch.

Anyway, i don't see why legolas is even in the movie, but whatever, I'm betting it's fine.

    True.

So excited for this movie, my kid and I were even building our own jaegers last night.

I know what it is. Not sure I'd call it trolling so much as I just like calling him Cumberbund. I don't know why. Maybe a cumberbatch is a group of cumberbunds?
