Seems conduct-related / freedom of speech / individualistic personalities, etc topics come up every year. I just don't like the aura and machismo we see on other fan sites to show up here. It rears it's ugly head every so often, but for the most part we don't get that much of it. It's tough because this board caters to all walks of life and all education levels. Just because a guy expresses himself in a 13 year old's vernacular, it doesn't mean his point isn't valid. The 12's are lining up to get on this site - as we saw when we landed Percy Harvin and the site crashed from over serving. Wonderful for our community and I applaud the spirit and conduct on this forum which makes it all possible.

The fact that there is a Shack clearly signals that it is not the intention of the forum's creators to just let "anything go" on any forum. Time and place do apply here.

We could debate all day about whether silly penis jokes are innocuous enough to stay on the main forum, but let's not have any more of that business about "we're all adults" equating to "anything goes". If that were true, there wouldn't be a Shack.

I totally agree Hawkstorian. The English language of full of adjectives that can be used to express different levels of excitement or rage for that matter, without getting crude or vulgar. Knowing when the use of such language is appropriate or not should have been taught by your parents. It is really all about social graces, either your parents instilled them in you or they didn't.

There is a time and a place for phallic humor, but it is not appropriate at all times, nor in all forums (something which SacHawk2.0 and his ilk cannot comprehend). Having never experienced premature ejaculation on any occasion in the past, I find it difficult to imagine the signing of any player, even to my favorite sports franchise, could elicit such a response from my loins. My kids read these forums all the time with me, so I'm hoping that we can tone it down. I'm just a poster here, sharing my thoughts once in a while. IMHO, it should be treated as a family site. Otherwise, the shack is the place to let F bombs and such go. If you're kids are reading the shack site, then it becomes a parental issue and that is your discretion.

Agreed, its an expression of bliss but unfortunately it is overused. Does it have its place in the main forum based on the precedence and rules instituted? No. Should it? Not my call, but why not?
People are constantly searching for colorful and unique ways to express themselves, I'm not sure how describing how you are feeling by describing an elative experience that we've all gone through(hopefully) is "middle school" humor, maybe its the treatment of sex as secretive, taboo and not to talk about in mixed company that is, in fact, childish and immature.

Remember how you acted when you went to your girlfriend's parents' house? That's kind of how you should act in the main forum.

It is still possible to argue and make fun of people without offending sensibilities in the main forum. Canhawk consistently cracks me up in a PG13 manner in the main forum. Remember that guy asking for the value oc tickets he owned who was clearly a scalper? Peaches managed to give him a shoeing within the constraints of the main forum. If you really need to drop some F-bombs or boast about the pythonesque qualities of your panty pinky, then there's the shack.

The biggest thing I have learned in life is that context is not a myth. You wouldn't shout swearywords at your kids' sports day, but you would at the CL. Remember, Hillary Clinton said that it takes a village. She was actually describing how many women had to be at hand to keep Bill satisfied, but I think that it's applicable in other situations as well.

There is nothing wrong with sexually expressive emotions, they can be appropriate without being vulgar.
