The Neko recently got home from his third trip to vet urgent care this week.

Started a few days ago, peeing pure blood into all of the sinks. First trip to the vet, got some fluids and antibiotics. Ultrasound showed a large mass in his bladder that vet decided was probably a clot. Came home and got blocked that evening, running about the house and trying unsuccessfully to pee on any and everything, just dribbling blood.

THAT emergency trip got him loaded down with cat morphine, which relaxed him enough to fully unload on the doc's office door. Dude was making a bengal O-face for that one.

Semi-decent day, starting on his Feline Prescription Bladder Health Food, then blocked off -again- trying to pass more frank blood. Spent the day getting IV fluids at the vet, today. Back home again, hosing down pretty much everything everywhere. So, still having recurring problems, nothing showing up on the blood/urinalysis, and huge mystery lump in his bladder. Also, wife might strangle him if he continues finding the least appropriate things in the house to pee on.

Ever the politician, Neko won over all of the voting-age vet office ladies by letting them all tote him around.

Good luck, Neeky.

Oh man, Not Neko.

No phony prayers from this household we love the Neko. Hate to hear that mass in the bladder, that's not a good sign at all.

Hope it turns out ok, please keep us in the loop.

Oh and tell the wife we understand, been there.

:(

I have two cats and I hate it when they're not feeling well.

Hope your little man makes a strong recovery.

Good thoughts for your beautiful kitty. It is so hard when our furbabies are not feeling well.

Had his first blood-free day. Much obliged for PIP's.

Still got a long haul watch over bladder mass and Special Cat Bladder Diet bills, but The Neko seems to be having a good day and came off his kitty morphine with no signs of distress.

Other Cat still hates him. Neko's a hybrid, and sometimes seems to not speak dialects of domestic feline -- He's completely confused that the tortoiseshell doesn't seem to recognize him since taking ill and multiple trips to the vet. (Take a regular cat to the vet, and when you come back... other cats in the house will want to kick that cat's ass. Since the cat comes back smelling differently, the home cats don't really recognize them. S'like your wife coming home with a different person's head.)

Hopefully, he'll be back to Politics soon.

Third relapse in about a week, blood pee everywhere. Another obstruction, and we are nearing the point where a couple of recently laid off people can't just drop a grand a week into cat maintenance.

I'm so sorry. I know too well how the high costs of veterinary services play a role in the hard decisions we have to make for our furbabies. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way at this difficult time.

Sounds like when my dog, Ted, got bladder cancer. Not sure if it is the same in cats. It is called TCC. Nasty garbage.

Caboose and his parents send love to The Neko. I know you don't know us from Adam, but we love our animals and don't want to hear bad things about ANY animal.

Seems to be doing better on the overpriced special prescription food. PROBABLY going to have a few more relapses, as the giant bladder blood clot has to break down and come out eventually -- So long as he doesn't get blocked, as male cats tend to do with their long narrow urethra, he'll do okay.

On the down side, he's still got some pain so has taken to peeing in full view standing on the dining room chairs. So... yeah, cat just hops up onto the dining room chair, hikes his tail, says, "Prrow?', and unleashes this extended stream of extra moisture-backed cat pee. This obviously needs to be worked on.

Here he is hanging with his dog buddy.

Hope he gets well soon. Cat..pet..illnesses are hard. My cat has an auto-immune disease. As long as he takes steroids EVERY DAY he is fine, but without them he would die in weeks. So, the good news is its under control and he travels the world with me..but he probably wont have the life span of most well cared for cats as eventually the steroids will cause damage..

All the best to Neko!

Wow you have some huge patience. If my dog was pissing all over the house he would be kenneled or roped outside, no matter how sick. Love the pets but their is a line.

Get better Neko!!!

Yeah, it's definitely trying.

Some people cry foul when I start talking about a trip to bengal rescue -- You're responsible for your pet, blah blah, referencing family members and how THEY'D be treated, etc...

I'm sorry, but if Uncle Albert gets dementia and starts taking a crap on the kitchen counter every other day, his ass is gonna be living in a home somewhere.
