I know its the Sacbee, but they have multiple articles out now saying that if KJ's group matches the offer that they would be more than happy to do business with them and keep them in Sacramento. I hate this stupid rollercoaster ride.............

From that article: "Though the NBA clearly wants another franchise in Seattle, which lost the Sonics to Oklahoma City five years ago after similar and protracted arena wranglings, the league is reluctant to abandon Sacramento for a number of reasons, including TV market size (20th), proven viability and history of fan support, potential for economic and population growth, and lack of competition (the Kings are the only major-league sports franchise in town)."

Really? They'd push for keeping the Kings in the 20th-ranked television market instead of allowing a move to the 14th largest market?

I'm sorry, but when you list staying in the 20th largest TV market over moving to the 14th largest, you lose a teenie-tiny bit of credibility there. Oh, and we can probably compare Seattle's history of fan support, and potential for economic and population growth too, while we're at it.

True but they maybe trying to have their cake and eat it too. What if Stern in the back his mind has alternative plan and is using the Seattle deal to force Sac to build an arena? Bobcats?

If you're willing to believe a news source that has struck out more often than its hit, I dunno what to tell you but to take Pinks advice and get off the computer for a week. Seriously, you don't find it funny that every time something goes against Sacramento, they come out with a "we meant for this to happen, and this is a good thing," statement? This is a dog and pony show coming out of Sac, nothing more. PR 101. Cut the "woe is me" attitude that has developed from Seattle sports fans.

I've wondered about that too, that Seattle gets used by the league for a bit to scare other cities into building new arenas before getting a bone thrown our way.

But my gut feeling is the kings are coming to Seattle.

They can say they have the money but if they do why havent they made a BINDING offer yet??
Hint: because they dont have enough money yet. The only card Sac has to play is the senimental card.

After having the Sonics ripped away from Seattle the lot of you should be ashamed of yourselves for wishing the same thing in another city.

For shame.

It's the game the NBA started, they don't want to expand so what other option is there? And you wouldn't say that if it this was Milwaukee or Charlotte we were talking about.

If this turns into a bidding war, the team is coming to seattle. Sacramento doesn't have the pockets to match if it gets to that. I definitely feel like we are going to get screwed here though.

It makes horrible business sense for the Kings to stay in Sacramento, but the NBA doesn't really care about that.

I beg to differ. The NBA owners are businessmen who will be making a hell of a lot of $ if the Kings become the Supersonics.

Dont hate the player, hate the game (ie the NBA).
This is David Stern's NBA, they set precedent by letting Clay Clay move our team. There is an easy way out for the NBA, immediate expansion. Lets see if the NBA is smart enough to figure that one out,

Yes, since you asked, that thought did cross my mind. Stern could be inflaming a bidding war because the more the team is sold for, regardless of whether they play in Sac or Seattle, the more all the rest of the NBA teams will be worth. It's like a house on your block selling for a million dollars - all the rest of the houses are worth more.

I'm feelin that boy Blitzer88 - ha ha. I think he's pessemistic out of psychic self-defense - hope for the best and expect the worst. We've still got another week on the roller-coaster, too. There could be some kind of resolution when the deadline passes - I hope that puts you at ease a bit, Blitzer. God - I love dashes.

I am a poker player, I smell a bluff...... I'm calling Sac's hand
Lets see that BINDING offer, Sacramento has said a lot of things that havent happened to be true and have missed every deadline so far, IMHO they are trying to by some more time. Plus I'm sure the the Hanson/Balmer/Nordstrom group has a plan B if true, which I doubt it is.

Yes, but this is the first news that the Maloofs will not recognize the Maloofs deadline.

The Maloofs will hold out for however long, as long as there's the possibility of getting more money.

Yeah, but Stern is so anti-Seattle. He's doing all he can to prevent us from getting a team, even when the financials make so much more sense...

and KJ knows this, that is why they are trying to throw every roadblock they can at the Hanson group, only problem is Hanson is about 10 steps ahead of KJ and the Sac group. :th2thumbs:

Tust me I hate Stern more than anyone here....
But....Stern works for the owners and is leaving soon, his power is dwindling by the second. The NBA would be commiting financial suicide by choosing a lesser deal in Sactown over Seattle unless there is immediate expansion.

Bob Condotta @bcondotta
Seattle now being regarded as about a 28-point underdog. But what's unclear is what the comeback plan is being drawn up by Hansen/Ballmer.

Now the Seattle media is giving us no shot..........

Give it 5 minutes and we'll get some good news, then wait 5 more minutes and we'll hear some bad news again.

I'm not going to get too happy/sad until this is all done. The media is getting anxious and is starting to over report things just so they can report everything first. This pattern will get much worse over the next week.

No matter how positive of a fan you are that the Seattle group is gonna win, there is no way to look at the Maloofs extending the bid deadline for Sac as a good thing.

Shaddup, they can't do squat right now without Hansen's say so because of that LEGALLY BINDING PSA. Hansen is pulling strings to see what these clowns are really capable of doing.

For shame.

Well, I want another team, and a team in a bad market makes the most sense to take. That's all there is to it. Our guys put the leg work in, did the business, Sacramento has thrown together a daydream barebones arena deal that does not look like it pans out and a group of 342 miniature investors powered by an incessant PR campaign. Our guys negotiated with the owners, made them a great offer, put together a real arena plan, and signed a sales agreement. You know, business and stuff.

If the NBA wants to be charitable and take the financial hit to have a team in that market, I guess good karma for them? I just don't get how it makes any sense for them as a business.

Sacramento SAYS it will match, SAYS their offer is competitive, SAYS they're going to build an arena (hey we even wrote it on the back of an Applebee's placemat). They say a lot, where's the money?

Put out a fully fleshed out financing package for the arena.
Put a binding offer together for the Maloofs in the event the BoG rejects the Seattle group, no backing out.
Put $30m in escrow to repay Seattle for deposit.
Put down money to buy the real estate for the arena even.

Put down some money. They haven't yet.

They are even letting Hansen buy the 7% bankruptcy share. Another opportunity to put their money down and they don't.

I've been told as well, as @sam_amick reported, that ltd partner Lucchetti no longer expected to match Hansen bid for 7% share in #NBAKings

Hansen controls 7%

So what happens with the 7% share if Hansen retains it and Sac keeps the kings? Will Hansen just re-sell it?

Was wondering about this, since I last saw the Lucchetti bid being accepted by the Bankruptcy lawyer. Which I thought there was a non-compete when Hansen put in the bid. This thing has so many twists and turns, probably will kill off Blitzer88. We may have to cremate him and toss his ashes in the ocean like the Dude did with his bud.

If the Whale won't or can't get 7 % to limit Hansens control, 7 percent is a big chunk of the 35 percent thats not owned by the Maloofs how is that ownership group going to match the 65 percent plus deposit and a arena.

Luchetti is not one of KJ's whales. He is a current minority stake holder in the Kings already.

I don't see Blitzer as a bowler. ...and if he is he's probably a lefty! ;)

He is part of the group, I thought it was his shares that were in Bankrupt state and he was trying to reaquire them and be a member of the group.

No, bob cook is bankrupt, luchetti is a minority owner of the kings already and tried to use his first right of refusal, but obviously he hasn't followed through on that.

And now it looks like if the sac group does make a formal bid, Hansen and Ballmer are going to up their offer.

STAY STRONG, BLITZER!!! Trust in Chris Hansen!
